Still Pregnant... dammit.

So, still here... no baby yet. Still 2 cms, 50% effaced. Still losing bits of icky pluggy stuff, and still having Prodromal Labor. My bp was 150/110 - but no protein in my urine, so good there. My doctor tried to strip my membranes, but apparently he couldn't reach them, due to the baby still being kind of high in my pelvis. He said 2nd kids don't usually engage until the end stage of labor.

Also, although he does feel for me - with having 48+ hours of Prodromal Labor, he said I "wouldn't be happy" with him if he induced me right now, because my cervix still isn't ready. I asked about using Evening Primrose Oil to help ripen my cervix... and he said it couldn't hurt, but also hasn't been proven to help, either. Ugh.

So, I walked around the mall with Travis for awhile, and then had a spicy lunch at Chipotle. Both also couldn't hurt, and may help... who knows?
So, I need to go back Monday, unless something happens before then. He said he highly doubts I will make it through the weekend. Here's to hoping.

Eww. Just Eww.

Warning... TMI ahead! Too much info! Turn away now!

Okay... still here?

Icky. I just lost part of my mucous plug. And it was every bit as gross as I though it would be, and so much more. I mean, I can't even say it without making a face. Mucous. Plug. GROSS!!! I didn't have the, um... pleasure of seeing it with Travis but this? Definitely ranks up there on the gross-out-o-meter. It was tinged with blood, too. Perhaps the 3 internal exams yesterday have contributed to this? I dunno.

So, let's get this show on the road!!!

Braxton-Hicks Hell

Braxton Hicks contractions suck major ass. I have had them A LOT this weekend... I swear, I can't possibly drink any more water. UGH. So, yeah. Combined with the backache, cervical twinges, and other unpleasantness... I think this baby is more likely to come closer to the end of March than April 7th... but that may just be wishful thinking....

Here's to the beginning of the end.... 43 days to go... not that I'm counting, or anything....

Red onions and pepperoncinis are officially on your "no-fly list" for the duration of this pregnancy.

30 weeks....

WTF? Where HAS the time gone this go-round?

I swear, it wasn't that long ago that I saw those pink lines on the HPT.... and now we're down to T-Minus 7-ish weeks?

How the hell did that happen?! Um, time flies when you're chasing around a very crazy 3-year-old, that's my guess.

I had an OB appointment yesterday... uneventful, mostly. I'm trying to ignore the fact that I gained 3 pounds in 3 weeks. Ugh. My BP was 124/78... and that includes what my OB jokingly referred to as "being under duress..." due to the fact that Travis was NOT cooperating in order to leave the house for my appointment. Now begins the once every 2 week visits... cause we're getting closer.

Anyway... I finally hung up Ashley's clothes in the closet. Well, Travis' closet, actually... but we mostly store boxes in there, anyway. We're set for 0-3 month stuff.... for sure. Thanks in large part to the 75% off sale that Old Navy had a few weeks back. MIL and I scored some freaking awesome deals!

The 3-6 month stuff is filling out, and we have some things that are 6-12 already. I bought a really cute outfit for next Christmas (6-12 month size) at Gymboree yesterday. Marked down from $38.00 to $4.99. Really - I had to get it.

Anyway... It does look like a pink atom bomb detonated in that half of the closet... and - seriously? If this kid comes out with a penis... I am going to flip the eff right out. ;)

Terrible 3s

I figured something out.... I am officially screwed. Yup, you heard me. I have no control over this little boy anymore. He's officially INSANE!

It really started up a few weeks ago.... he had a language explosion of sorts. As in, he started stringing together short sentences... and I got kind of excited. You know.... cause now he could use his new-found abilities to communicate better with us. And life, as we know it would get easier. Right? Oh wrong. Wrong. WRONG!

His first foray into the multi-sentences went something like this: "Hey! Give that back! That's not Yours! That's Travis'!" Oh, it was cute the first oh, hundred times. Now? I want him to unlearn it, post-haste.

Oh, that's not the worst of it... he's learned from, godknowswhere.... this faux high-pitched dog whistle. So, it's all "Wheeewwheew!" "HEY! Give that back!" Always with that fake-ass stupid, obnoxious, disrespectful effing "whistle" - and he does it like 50,000 times a day. I want to scream. I really, really do. He uses this tactic with us, with kids at the park, kids at the Children's Museum in town, and it freaking SUCKS! I hate, hate, haaate it. He uses it whenever we tell him something he doesn't want to hear, or when we try and discipline him, and lately that is often.

Plus, it's been raining, and look at the forecast for next week!

Joy, huh?!

In this town - there's not a whole lot to do inside-wise. We have no indoor malls, and the kid's museum failed miserably the other day, due to the above obnoxious behavior. I had to drag him LITERALLY kicking and screaming from the museum because he was pulling that crap with the other kids, and hoarding the toys, and not listening.

Also, we haven't re-newed our Aquarium membership... because

1. It's Expensive.
2. The Kid's area is being remodeled, and won't be opened until April. This is one of the sole small closed- off areas in there for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
3. I CANNOT chase him all over the entirety of the Aquarium right now... I am nearly 7 1/2 months pregnant, and achy, sore, and otherwise NOT going to do it.

I am tired. Tired of the yelling, the screaming, the tantrums. I'm tired of being unhappy. Tired.... Tired of being achy, tired of being cooped up inside. Just stick a damn fork in me, already.

Don't get me wrong. I love my son. I love him with all my heart. I just really don't LIKE him right now.

The Many Joys of Apartment Living....

Our downstairs neighbors are party-ers. I mean really, really loud party-ers... and I don't care... except....

There have been several times in the last few months where they have done this same shit. It's about 2:15am... Friday or Saturday night - right after last call... and the guy (who - to my knowledge... is the only one who lives in the apartment downstairs) and his girlfriend get into loud, drunken arguments while she's getting ready to leave in her car. The car just always happens to be parked...conveniently downstairs RIGHT below my bedroom window.

So, Friday night/Saturday morning.... right on cue, I was woken up by their drunken antics.

They were yelling, and being generally loud drunken, inconsiderate assholes... and then he went back into his apartment, and was slamming the door, and yelling.... and carrying on. There was, as always, a loud group of people in his apartment.... and I could hear their carrying on... through my floor!

So, I got up, peed, and called the cops.

I talked to the dispatch woman, and explained the situation to her. Since my car accident a couple of years ago, I have had the non-emergency number to the PD programmed into my cell. So, I gave her the address, and she told me she would send an officer over to check it out.

Okay. Back to bed, settle in, getting comfy again... and then, 15 minutes later my cell rings. WTF? It's like 2:30-something by this time. I answer it, and it's the dispatch woman. She says they don't have a record of our apartment building's address in their system. WTF???! I repeat that the apartment building's address in 11-blank-blank Noneyabizness Street. And she says are you sure it's not 10-blank-blank Noneyabizness Street? I say, No, I know where I live, even in the middle of the night. We are at the corner of Noneyabizness and Randomnumber Street and it's the ONLY apartment building on that corner.

By this time, Jeff hears me talking, and comes to investigate. He asks who I'm talking to, and I tell him, with dispatch still on the line, that I was trying to call the cops on our asshole downstairs neighbors. And, that apparently, it's easier to get pizza delivered than an officer dispatched.

Finally, they get their shit together... and they sent a cop out, but all he did was drive by, and they didn't even bother to get out of his car. The drunken a-holes had moved their ruckus inside... and I guess it was too much trouble for the officer to leave his nice warm car, and investigate further.

I decided, though... I am calling the cops every time they do this from here on out. No one fucks with the pregnant lady's sleep and gets away with it.

Wrapping up the week

This week has been fairly un-eventful. But, that's okay... I'm not complaining! :)

I had my OB appointment on Tuesday. Everything looks good. My blood sugar was 130, and they want you at that or below. I blame all those Peppermint Mochas during the holidays! LOL! He said as long as it wasn't higher than 130, not to worry. My BP was 120/70, so perfectly fine, and growth was good.

I am getting very uncomfortable. Lots of pelvic and lower back discomfort. This little girl is very, very low... and boy am I feeling it right about now. Ugh. My lower right hip/back is killing me right now... but I can't get into the chiro until next week. So, I just know the drive up to the in-laws tomorrow morning is going to be super-fun on my already thrashed body. Oh well, such is life.

I took a bunch of Travis' old baby clothes to the 2 consignment stores in town. The one I went to today is very chi-chi.... they only take higher-end stuff. Like, Gap, Gymboree and above. (Way, WAY above... there was some stuff in there that was ridiculous. $300. For infant clothing. Ugh.) So, I only took in some of the very nicest things I had in the 0-6 month sizes... they pay out about 35% of the selling price.... which is okay.

The coolest thing about this boutique, is that they buy everything up front, and send you a check. So, that will be nice. Honestly, I don't even want store credit in this place, it's that $$.

The other place, is much more relaxed. They are not snobby about brands, and everything is very reasonably priced. So, that's the place I will do the store credit for. They do 60% store credit, or 40% cash payout. I bought a big stack of things for Ashley there - Gymboree, Baby Gap, Carters, Osh Kosh, all of it... some of it was 2 piece sets, too! I got like 12 items of really nice stuff - for $23.00 total. So, wow - like $3.00 or under an item! Can't beat those prices!! :)

Anyway... going to try and bribe the kid to take a nap with me... cause I am really, really tired. He's been fighting them hard this week... I really hope it's just a phase... cause I will seriously fuh-reak out if he decides not to nap anymore!

Dude, only 3 months to go, until I am seriously outnumbered! How nuts is that?!

Stormy Weather....

It's rockin' and rollin' out there today! Stormy, wet, windy as crap! Just in typing this post.... the power has flickered twice! Yikes! I checked Weather.com... there are "gusts" predicted from 39-60 miles an hour!! Woah!

I didn't sleep well last night.... the ROAR of the wind, and the tree branches hitting the window made for a very loud night. Plus, Travis was tossing and turning next to me, which kept me awake, as well.

I had to go do my (27-week!!) 1-hour blood glucose test this morning. I went to the lab at 7:00am.... and they gave me a Lemon-Lime drink this time. It wasn't as bad as the orange-flavored one.... which just made me wanna puke. They also only took 2 vials of blood, unlike my 14 week visit, where they took enough for a whole OB panel. Like, um, 8 vials? So, it wasn't so bad. I guess.

I had my iPod, and was rockin' Justin Timberlake, and knitting for the hour I had to wait in the office. I started a pair of Little Turtle Knits Picky Pants last night. They are a dark raspberry color, and I am going to make them capris and do the picot trim along the ankles.

I really want to try dying some yarn up with Koolaid, as I have seen some awesome results on Ravelry.

It looks like I will have a lot of time for knitting, as the storms are forecasted to be going strong this weekend.

I do need to venture out later to go to Trader Joes.... but for the most part, we are staying inside today!

Thank goodness we have the seldom-used Playdough, paints, and Travis' new Thomas the Train Aquadoodle from Christmas to hopefully keep us occupied, electricity or no! :)

Baking cookies, and a baby....

I love holiday baking! I just have to stagger it out this year, so not to be overwhelmed by a 2-day-bake-athon as in previous years.... pre-child, mais oui!

Anyway... I am not working anymore, and I used to bake for those I worked with, bosses, officemates... but all that is no more.

Today, we're having our Parent's Place holiday potluck. I baked up a batch of these yummy Black-Bottom Coconut Bars this morning, and they are cooling in the pan, awaiting slicing. Our whole place smells so good right now! I also did some slice-and-bake cookies adorned with colored sugar this morning. I made the dough a few days ago, and wrapped it up and tucked it in the fridge. The dough was left from The Spritz cookie baking attempt Friday - which - sadly, failed... by no fault of the recipe. That dubious honor belongs to the Wilton cookie press I used (brand new - by the way)and it sucked so much.... but a replacement is on its way to me... damn right - I called and complained!

Yesterday Travis helped me cut out (packaged, GASP!) "Gingerbread Boy Cookies" and I need to stop by the store today and pick up some pasteurized egg whites for the Royal Icing. I tried and tried to find Meringue Powder in the grocery store... but I was only able to find the huge-ass Wilton can of Powdered Meringue at the craft store. For $8.00. Um.... no thank you! So, I will make it with pasteurized egg whites instead... and today we will decorate our Gingerbread Boy Cookies! :)

Anyway... the holiday projects are coming along.... slowly, but surely. The calendar is nearly complete... the knitting is... well... it's coming. Eventually.

I had my 23 week OB appointment yesterday... unremarkable... which is exactly how I like them. BP was 100/70 so... Woohoo! I have to do the GD test again in 3 weeks. They have you do it at 12 and 26 weeks now, apparently. So, ugh. But whatever.

I need to stop by the bookstore to pick up a book for our $5.00 book exchange before class today. So, guess I need to go now...

falalalalalala

Lately.... my ambition... it's just vanished. I want to blog, I want to post comments on the ones I read. I want to change my blog header...I need to clean.... need to finish (or even start) various projects for Christmas gifts.... I want to bake... want to Christmas shop - but ugh. I'm always tired, procrastinating.... just plain lazy, I suppose. Naps sound good, so do early bedtimes.... but not what I need to do. This magical 2nd trimester where I'm supposed to have all this energy - it just eludes me!

We had our big ultrasound last weekend. And..... for those of you that don't already know.... IT'S A GIRL!!!!

Her name is Ashley... and we are super-excited to meet her in April.

Speaking of, Ashley is moving more and more these days. Most times, when I wake up in the morning... I feel her moving... low in my abdomen. The flutters, I know will become more and more strong over the next few weeks... even painful at times. Right now, I am just enjoying the gentle, sweet movements and relishing the reminder that she is always here with me - throughout my day.

19 weeks....

I couldn't remember if I had an OB appointment today... so I called this morning. Well, actually I woke up at 10 after 9. And, guess what? My appointment was at 9:45 CRAP! So, I rushed us out the door. For what? Only to have to wait in the office, for an HOUR with a pretty pissed-off 3 year old. Nice. Just how I want to start my morning.

Everything is going good, though. Nice strong, heartbeat, my BP is behaving at 130/60, and the growth is right on. No weight gain for me in the last in 2 weeks, so woohoo!

My next appt. is on 12/11. But, by then, we will already know what we're having.... my 4-D ultrasound is scheduled for 12/1. I can't wait! :)

Feeling the burn.

I just got up from a nap. Hooray! Travis is still snoozing, at least until I hit Publish. So nice, considering it's been like pulling teeth to get him to nap. And then he's just so tired, cranky, and unreasonable. And yet, he JUST WON'T go down!

I DO have a terrific case of heartburn right now, that I can do NOTHING about. Apparently, it was a supremely BAD idea to make apple pie today. And to have Honey Dijon chips with lunch. Oh, and mayo on my sandwich. Yay!

I can't take Tums because the calcium in them apparently interferes with the absorption of the beta blockers in my blood pressure meds. Lovely, no? Also, I went in on Wednesday and my bp was 140/70. My dosage has been upped to 200 mg of Labetalol 3 times a day. I was already taking 200 mg twice a day.... but the last couple of days I have felt really crappy.... nauseated, headache, while my body adjusts to the new dosage.

Also, I started prenatal yoga this week. It's 1 hour on Tuesday and Thursday. I like it, but it's kicking my ass! Oh, my arms, chest, abs too! OUCH! At least it's also an hour of QUIET twice a week while Travis is down the hall in the Kid's Zone. Yay!

So, this weekend, we have a birthday party to go to for one of the kid's from our Parents Place class. They are doing some lavish thing at Pebble Beach... cause they have $$. So, that should be nice to go have a catered lunch tomorrow. Although, I still haven't found a good gift yet, I am leaning toward a gift card for Thinker Toys. Plus, we can stop by and pick it up in the morning with our Bucks run. :)

Tonight, we're having dinner with my dad.... although I don't know where yet. Crossing fingers that Travis behaves himself..... because last week at El Torito his behavior left much to be desired for the first half of dinner. We shall see....

Le sigh.

Yesterday was hard. Damn hard. As in, I had a request (after breakfast) for a Starbucks chocolate donut and milk. So, we went to the one in nearest proximity to the park playdate we had scheduled. We NEVER go to that Bucks, cause it's Way the eff out on Highway 68.... and it's a pain to get there. But the playdate was only like a mile away, so that's where we ended up.

There were NO chocolate donuts to be found. He started tearing up in line, and pushed his lower lip out, and cried like his feelings had gotten really, really hurt. He cried, and sobbed, and said "Travis SO sad!" Poor thing.... he was eventually placated with a couple of Brownie Bites, but he kept reminding me that he was "so sad" in between bites.

After that, I took The Boy to the park, and he hated being there. He screamed, like he was being killed. At the PARK, people! Then, even though my mom had planned to visit early enough to have lunch.... she was delayed, making it closer to 2:30 than the agreed-upon time of 1:ish. So, we were starving, and Travis was cranky, and not napping.

Finally, she got here, and we did have lunch, closer to 3:00... Travis started to doze off in the car, but woke up 5 minutes after the food got to our table. So, I ordered him a quesadilla, and we all ate.

Afterwards, we hit Trader Joes, and the Cranky-fest continued. We decided to skip the Farmers Market. I was dragging ass, too.... and decided to skip my Stitch 'n Bitch. Again.

My mom came back to our place for a few, and then headed out. Travis freaked the eff out. He cried. He screamed. He wailed. He went out on the balcony and yelled "GrammaWary! GrammaWary! GrammmmmaaaaaWaaaary!" (Grandma Mary) at least 5,000,000 times.

He did NOT nap! I did not nap. It was lame, lame, lame.

Add that to the round ligament pains I had all damn day, and sheer exhaustion, frustration, and the fact that my day started at 7:30 am with all the above crap.... well, at least we got pizza last night.... cause I was SOOOO not making dinner after all that crap!

I had a mini-breakdown and cried after Jeff got here. I said I didn't remember the pains of pregnancy starting this early, and it was a hard day, and I just didn't know what to do.

He comforted me... he's good like that. :) Then he suggested that since I have a couple more months left on my gym membership... and honestly? I haven't gone. InmMonths. Really.

But, he suggested I take advantage of their daycare, and either go in the pool, or take the laptop, and surf the'r wi-fi while getting a break a few times a week. Brilliant!!!
I knew I married him for a reason!! :)

P.S. It's the Great Mofo Delurk today, peeps!! Come out of the closet and post a comment for eff's sake!!

Constant Craving...

The cravings have started to hit.... Big Time.... and only over the last few days.

Mainly, Chocolate. I bought a bag of Dark chocolate dipped mini pretzels at Trader Joe's today... and ate an obscene amount of them. M&M mini snack size bags. Chocolate milk. This is insane. It's bad. Please send help!

That's not even mentioning the things I have been craving, yet haven't had. Caramel Dip and appples, Pumpkin pie ice cream, apple pie, and not a single damn good for you thing on the list. Sigh.

Here's to hoping I get through the second trimester without turning into Shamu!

Oh, yeah, 12 weeks yesterday! :)

Rambing....

Yesterday I had my OB appointment. I got a bonus ultrasound! Everything is fine! The reason for said view into my womb was the Wold's Oldest Doppler, coupled with the fact that I am chubby. I think. Anyway.... no luck finding the heartbeat with the Star Trek-era doppler..... so they popped me into the u/s room for a peek. I finally got an abdominal one, no wand in the hay-hay in the A.M......thankyouverymuch! Woofreakinghoo!! No print-out of this one.... but heart is fine, everything appears to be on track. So much so, that I get to go in bi-weekly for a bit! YAY! These weekly trips to his office have served their purpose.... but I am ready for a bit of a break! Not to mention the $35 co-pay each visit adds up!

And, I didn't even bruise so much from the bloodwork. It's about the size of my pinky nail. Nice, really....unlike last time where I was sporting a HUGE nasty bruise for 10 days afterward.

Also, I bought a doppler online last night. I found a Hi Bebe for about $100 - and it seemed like a great deal.... considering the digital-readout ones are close to $50 monthly to rent, and even the basic ones are at least $20 a month. This will be good, cause I will own it, and be able to use it for this and any possible future kiddo.
(Or, at least let friends borrow it, whatever....)

Anyway. Need to get dressed and start my day. I was up at 4am... but went back to bed as Jeff was getting up at 5:30ish.

I also need to decide if it's worth dragging Travis to Parent's Place today.... he's been a pain in my arse about it the last few times. Melt-downs, tantrums, the whole nine yards. We may just try the drop-in classes for a bit.... he can only go to Core class for another couple of months anyway - turning 3 in November and all.

Later!

How my morning started....

(crappy picture.... but my first Moblog!!)

I had to go to the lab and do the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. Meaning....
I got there at 7:30, and proceeded to have to down this nast-ay orange syrupy crap in 5 minutes. Oh, yeah.... on an empty stomach. No water chaser. Lovely. Then I had to wait there for an hour..... not bad.... I had my iPod, and my knitting....

And then they took eight vials of blood from me. Lovely, no?

I joked with the nurse that she could go ahead and put half the vials back when she took them out of the drawer. She was sweet, and laughed.... and tried to keep it quick and painless.

When I was pregnant with Travis, I didn't even have to do the glucose test until, like 22 weeks.... so having it done this early was new to me. And I have felt tired, cranky, and crapppy all day long because of it. Yay. :(

But, I guess I just don't do well with blood draws.

Fall is here!

I made Caramelized Apple Pecan Coffee Cake today. Starbucks has the recipe cards in their stores, and it is SOOOOO GOOD! MUCH better than the who-knows-how-old-version they have in the display case. Of course, the apples alone would be great on anything.... crepes, pancakes, ice cream.... drool.

The worst part about being pregnant is always wanting to eat, but not being able to. I am always full after not all that much food. Oh well. It's not like I want to gain THAT much, anyway!! :)

The Update.....

So.... I feel a little less superstitious after today. I am coming out of the blog closet. No, not THAT closet. LOL. But, for those of you who don't know.... I am pregnant. Yup. Knocked. Up. Again. 10 weeks, 1 day based on today's ultrasound. Which brings my edd up to 4/7/2008.

Hello in there!!! :)

And it's hard. Harder this time.... because I have to drag my almost-3-year-old who is acting like he's closer to 2 sometimes..... to my OB appointments, and try and coax him to nap with me in the afternoons. And I am exhausted, and feel mommy-guilt when the only outing we've had in days are trips to Starbucks and Target. Park? Um, yeah? Notsomuch. Bad mommy!

Because I've been through this all before.... I am not obsessing NEARLY as much as I did with Travis. Shut UP! I'm NOT!

But, that doesn't mean I'm not obessing.... 'cause ya know.... that's just what I DO!

I am most nervous (right now) about the whole family dynamic changing. Even though this baby is COMPLETELY wanted and PLANNED.... I feel, right now, we've got a pretty good thing going.... we know what we're doing (most of the time). Day-to-day stuff runs fairly smoothly... again MOST of the time. And, quite honestly - adding another baby into the mix is going to seriously shake things up. But, then again - two is twice the fun. Right?
