| Two weeks down! |
I've been in a vortex... nursing Ashley, changing both kids' diapers, making food... trying to remember to eat enough myself, and drink enough water... occasionally even managing to make it out of the house, you know... adjusting. Trying my best to ignore the growing pile of laundry needing to be done... the toys strewn all over the living room... the magazines and general clutter needing to be dealt with. Nothing a well-placed hour couldn't handle. But, I don't have a well-placed hour. I have mere minutes between what the baby needs, and what the Boy wants... and I must manage to do things like... ummm...go pee, and other important stuff like eat breakfast. So I guess the house-stuff; it will get done, just not right now. i'm lucky if I can remember to run the dishwasher in the mornings(pre-loaded by Jeff late-night after dinner.)
So, yeah... doing well, yet still trying to get back into the swing of day-to-day household maintenance without going crazy in the process.Labels: 2 weeks, baby daze, homekeeping, parenting |

| Baking cookies, and a baby.... |
I love holiday baking! I just have to stagger it out this year, so not to be overwhelmed by a 2-day-bake-athon as in previous years.... pre-child, mais oui!
Anyway... I am not working anymore, and I used to bake for those I worked with, bosses, officemates... but all that is no more.
Today, we're having our Parent's Place holiday potluck. I baked up a batch of these yummy Black-Bottom Coconut Bars this morning, and they are cooling in the pan, awaiting slicing. Our whole place smells so good right now! I also did some slice-and-bake cookies adorned with colored sugar this morning. I made the dough a few days ago, and wrapped it up and tucked it in the fridge. The dough was left from The Spritz cookie baking attempt Friday - which - sadly, failed... by no fault of the recipe. That dubious honor belongs to the Wilton cookie press I used (brand new - by the way)and it sucked so much.... but a replacement is on its way to me... damn right - I called and complained!
Yesterday Travis helped me cut out (packaged, GASP!) "Gingerbread Boy Cookies" and I need to stop by the store today and pick up some pasteurized egg whites for the Royal Icing. I tried and tried to find Meringue Powder in the grocery store... but I was only able to find the huge-ass Wilton can of Powdered Meringue at the craft store. For $8.00. Um.... no thank you! So, I will make it with pasteurized egg whites instead... and today we will decorate our Gingerbread Boy Cookies! :)
Anyway... the holiday projects are coming along.... slowly, but surely. The calendar is nearly complete... the knitting is... well... it's coming. Eventually.
I had my 23 week OB appointment yesterday... unremarkable... which is exactly how I like them. BP was 100/70 so... Woohoo! I have to do the GD test again in 3 weeks. They have you do it at 12 and 26 weeks now, apparently. So, ugh. But whatever.
I need to stop by the bookstore to pick up a book for our $5.00 book exchange before class today. So, guess I need to go now...Labels: baking, holiday, homekeeping, knitting, knocked up |

Lately.... my ambition... it's just vanished. I want to blog, I want to post comments on the ones I read. I want to change my blog header...I need to clean.... need to finish (or even start) various projects for Christmas gifts.... I want to bake... want to Christmas shop - but ugh. I'm always tired, procrastinating.... just plain lazy, I suppose. Naps sound good, so do early bedtimes.... but not what I need to do. This magical 2nd trimester where I'm supposed to have all this energy - it just eludes me!
We had our big ultrasound last weekend. And..... for those of you that don't already know.... IT'S A GIRL!!!!
Her name is Ashley... and we are super-excited to meet her in April.
Speaking of, Ashley is moving more and more these days. Most times, when I wake up in the morning... I feel her moving... low in my abdomen. The flutters, I know will become more and more strong over the next few weeks... even painful at times. Right now, I am just enjoying the gentle, sweet movements and relishing the reminder that she is always here with me - throughout my day.Labels: 22 weeks, holiday, homekeeping, knitting, knocked up, pregnant |

| Responsible & Shit... ;) |
So.... it's Monday.... I have been seriously lagging in the blogging department. Sigh.
Last week, it seriously sucked weather-wise here.... grey and overcast All Day - Every Day! I was getting depressed.... seriously.
We also skipped our usual Tuesday park, and Wednesday playgroup, due to lack of sleep (me) and runny nose (Travis).
But, on Saturday, we kicked ass!
We went out to breakfast with my dad. Then afterward, I asked if we could borrow my dad and his truck for a few hours. We FINALLY donated all the crap that's been cluttering up our lives, and went to our storage, and purged a ton of stuff. We consolidated, and made room for the many boxes and totes of Travis' outgrown baby items. Including our stroller. Eh hem.
I can no longer do my walk on Thursdays, because Travis acts like our BOB stroller is killing him every time we try. He ends up screaming for 1 1/2 miles. and I have to put him in the Mei Tai and carry him up the hills on my back. Aww hell to the NAW!
I decided to bite the bullet, and join the gym. Suddenly $300 for 6 months doesn't seem so bad. ;) They have really reasonably-priced child-care, and today was our first day.
Travis cried at first, when I tried to leave the room - but the nice young lady assured me that someone would come and get me if he didn't calm down.
So, I went into the cardio room, and got on the PreCor Elliptical Machine. I turned on the FitPod podcasts I downloaded. Ugh. Wasn't feeling it.... tooo slow!
Then I put on the Crystal Method Nike Drive Mix, and I was OFF! For the next 40 minutes, I sweated, and sweated, and drank water, and Felt. The. BURN!
My heartrate averaged at 135 bpm. So, not too bad, considering my lack of regular exercise....
I showered, and went back to my locker. For the life of me - I could NOT remember my combination to the lock I'd just purchased. I tried, and tried, wrapped in a towel.... and got more and more frustrated. I KNEW the numbers! I just couldn't remember the order. Grr! SO, they cut it off with bolt-cutters, so I could get dressed and fetch The Boy.
He was playing, and chilling, and I was told he did very well. That made me super-happy! :)
We went out to Chipotle for lunch, and then hit the Bath & Body Works sale. Yummy!
We came home, and napped, and I really must get motivated enough to unload and re-load the dishwasher and fold 3 loads of laundry before Jeff gets home. Um, and dinner. Must make dinner.
