First slinging.... 8 days old!

There was a challenge on The Baby Wearer to find our very first babywearing picture....

So, Travis is obviously a SlingBaby! I wore him for the first time at about 1 week old. I swear.... it was the worst sling EVER! An uncomfortable Infantino disaster.... but trust me.... I have long since made up for my ignorance. I think last count on my carriers was in the 20s.

Sigh. Where did my tiny boy go?!

I need to go through my extensive set of photos and pick out all the sling pics..... another thing to add to my "to-do" list

Averting Dinner Disasters? We'll see....

Although I love to cook.... I have a BIG problem. Well, he's 3 feet some-odd-inches tall.... and HATES it when I have to be in the kitchen with the gate closed for ANY amount of time.

Sigh. So, since Jeff often gets home late.... dinners are most-often prepared with a screaming child hanging on the gate and wailing non-stop:"Open! Open! 'ichen! (kitchen) OOOOPPPPEEEN! MOMMY HUGS!"

No amount of TV, Play-doh, or anything else will Make. IT. STOP!

Fun times, I tell you! :) So, I decided to try the new Robin Miller book out.... and shop for the specific recipes.... (although I bought my copy at Costco for $11.95)

She bugs the HELL out of me on tv.... but I watch her show anyway...

Anyway.... I used Travis' nap yesterday (and Jeff was home!) to cook up a big batch of Tangy Tomato Ragout which gets "Morphed" for a couple of different recipes
this week. I also prepped the Broccoli Puree with Parmaesan, for tonight. So, ahead of the game? We'll see.... My goal is to minimize the amount of time I have to spend in the kitchen while home alone with a very PISSED OFF toddler!

Anyway.... here's the menu for this week....

Sunday (last night)

~Grilled Chicken tenders with Tangy Tomato Ragout, and melted swiss
~Pasta with more of the sauce
~Blue Lake Greenbeans sauteed in garlic, butter, and olive oil (not really a recipe, but I like to make them this way!)

Monday (tonight)

~Pan-seared pork chops with tomato chutney (the Ragout gets reduced, additional herbs, spices, and chopped dried fruit added to make the chutney)
~Potato Broccoli Puree with Parmesan (already made, just needs re-heating)
~Salad

Tuesday:
~Shepherd's Pie with cheddar-spiked mashed potatoes
Salad

(I'll make these the night of, most likely.... I ran out of diced tomatoes yesterday, and could NOT find frozen pearl onions at the stores on Friday.)

I will chop the carrots sometime today....

Wednesday: Home-made Pizza (using Trader Joes fresh pizza dough... and assorted toppings....)
Salad

Thursday (Jeff's Birthday!)

Bolognese over fusilli (using/modifying the tomato ragout from earlier in the week.)
Salad.... and most likely go to Baskin Robbins for dessert.

So, yeah... there's the menu for the week.

LOVEFEST! ;)

That Rachael.... she is a smelly whore! Oh, and she beats her kids! Oh, and um.....

Oh, my GAWD I am SOOOOO kidding!!! ;) We LOVED hanging out with her and the boys!!! It was awesome! And so is she.... I was really nervous at first... cause you know.... that's how I ROLL! Plus, I thought she'd be all like.... "Um, where the hell did you get that ugly piece of fabric.... and why do you insist on wearing your kid in it?" And "Um... have you plucked your eyebrows, in like 3 years?!" Or... "Oh. My. GAWD! Couldn't you wear some concealer on that ZIT??!" But, no, she was amazingly cool.... despite her Rockstar blog and Flickr status! LOL!

So, yeah..... we seriously had the BEST time hanging out with Rachael and her boys!! I was amazed at how alike we are. I mean. Really.

We both talk mad crazy crap about people (Yeah, you! Just kidding!!) Also, we both love Samoas, and Watermelon bubblegum, South Park, and about a zillion other things. We talked about motherhood, the best jeans for beating the dreaded mommy "muffin-top", our husbands' affinity for eschewing their dental hygiene.... sex, and oh, like a million zillion other things. So, yeah! Rock on! Really.... we just got along as if we'd known each other for a really long time.

I am so bummed to have them live so far away.... but the offer still stands for her to come here and visit!! :)

The boys had a great time running all over and macking on the ladies! Playground Pimps, indeed! LOL!

We also met up and had lunch at Chipotle, and then took the boys to Borders where they took over the kid's section. I mean, they made that shit their OWN! Taking books off the spinny-shelves, and looking at books... trying to unwrap puzzles. Oh yeah! FUN! Plus, Travi & Gavi are both obsessed with numbers and letters, so it was fun to watch them pointing them all out! :)

Anyway.... I was really sad to have to go back home.... except for the fact that Travis had been King of the Crankies all week without Daddy. So, Rachael.... you are totally Travis' internet Auntie.... and anytime you're in Cali.... you got my number! :)

Chillin'....

So, I'm hanging at my in-laws....

We took Travis to the Wiggles show Monday night. It was SO fun! Plus Travis got to meet Murray....so best thing EVER in the life of a 2 year old.

Also, Rachael and her two boys are visiting the area, too. :)

We met up yesterday in downtown WC, and took the boys to Barnes & Noble, and then went to 'Bucks for coffee and cookies.

Travi & Gavi (oh, how cute!) were running around like crazy, and not wanting to listen to us Mommies. Plus, we kept trying to get pictures of them together.... and they would NOT stay still for two seconds! LOL!

So, we hung out for awhile, and plan on getting together again this afternoon to take the boys to this nice big park, so they can run around like crazy toddlers! Keaton was just sitting there, chewing on a cookie... and watching the two older boys run all over. He's SO cute! Gavi too! And rach is just as nice in person as she is on her blog, so, YAY! :)

After our meeting yesterday, I managed to get myself royally lost. So, I called my MIL, and she ever-so-patiently got me un-lost. It took nearly an hour to drive home.... even though I wasn't all that far from their house to begin with. Well, I ended up VERY far from their house.... and yeah.... I REALLY suck at directions.

That being said... I am going off in search of the Trader Joes... and hopefully a Target.... Travis needs diapers. Wish me luck! ;)

Pregnant memories....

June 2004, originally uploaded by tjsmommabear.

It's almost 3 years to the date I found out I was pregnant with Travis. It was awesome.... although I was pretty much scared shitless.... I had just had a miscarriage.... and I didn't want to get too "attached" in case it happened again.

We took a lot of pictures of me huge and pregnant. As uncomfortable as I was a lot of the time.... I was really happy to have the symptoms, and hear the heartbeat on my rented doppler. Each doctor's appointment brought us closer together.... this little person who was living inside of me, growing stronger each day.
So, I'm jumping on the baby bump photo bandwagon... Although.... Travis was never really a "bump".... more like a watermelon! :)

My new 'do

My new 'do, originally uploaded by tjsmommabear.

I got my hair cut yesterday... I haven't done it since, um last June for B's wedding.

I was going for shorter.... and, well.... I got it allright! ;) I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw she was cutting off like 6 inches!!!

But, actually, I kinda like it. Besides, I usually have it pulled back in a ponytail anyway....

Rx for what ails ya.

My baby has bronchitis! :(

I took him in this afternoon... and we've got to give him amoxicillin for the nest 10 days. 2 times a day!!! Like. Um, yeah. You wanna come over and help me sit on the=is crazy strong 30-some-pound flailing child?

Oh. Didn't think so.

I did, however.... get to go out for a couple of hours. The Mamas On the Move went out for drinks. It was nice. And SOOOOO needed.

Yay!

P.S.

I showered! :)

AND put on a clean shirt, make-up, and a necklace.

Okay, it's a nursing necklace, but still super-cute.

P.P.S.

I actually made the Potato Chip Scarf... but still in the process of binding off the 700-some-odd stitches. Damn!

When it rains.....

It really pours around here....

Back to yesterday... with my lofty goals of, laundry, house straightening, coffee, and showering. Well, I got some laundry done. And that is IT!

Yup. No shower for me.... no Cinnamon Dulce. Nope.

In fact, I STILL have not showered. Hopefully, that situation will be remedied shortly. Although Jeff DID bring me a latte - so at least there's that.

We were SUPPOSED to go out with our new Mom's Group "Mamas on the Move!" to a walk on the hilly beach today. But, it's not happening.

I was really, really looking forward to our walk today. We haven't gone anywhere in over a week...

Because.... when it rains, it really pours!

My child was at his whiniest, clingiest, most unreasonable self all day yesterday. It wasn't until noon that I realized he wasn't being a pain in my arse just for the hell of it.... he wasn't feeling well. He wouldn't nap for more than 10 minutes all day.... he got himself worked up in tears over the smallest things. He wouldn't eat anything. So, I did what any good mom would do.... I went through the Mc D's drive through and got him a Happy Meal with "uggabuggah, freh-fries, and TOY!" (Travis-speak for cheeseburger Happy Meal.)

By the time Jeff got home, he started feeling really warm. We doped him up with Tylenol....

Travis was up with a 103 degree temperature in the middle of the night... and I really have no idea what it is. I called the emergency ped on call.... she said not to worry unless it got to 105. He's miserable, and I'm keeping him doped up on the Tylenol to keep his fever down. I think, it's either the tail-end of this cold (he still has a VERY slight cough) or a fever related to all four of his 2-year molars coming in. Because.... we haven't been anywhere for him to "pick up" anything else.

So, if you need me.... I'll be the greasy-haired-broken-out-crazy-lady who is trying to nurse a sobbing toddler and knit one of these at the same time.

Sigh
