Travis is still coughing. Ugh. Seriously... lame. We really haven't gone anywhere in a week.... and I was really planning on going to the playgroup today....
But we really need clean clothes. And, the house needs to be straightened. And vacuumed. And I need a shower. Oh, and clean towels.... so I can shower.
Sigh. So, instead of singing songs and reading stories.... I have 3 loads of laundry in the washers. Travis is watching tv in our room, and coughing. Lovely.
And, we're expecting MORE rain. Jeezus.
So, after laundry, and showering.... I'm expecting it to be close to noon. Maybe, we'll go to the Aquarium so he can run off some pent-up energy. And then, I can get my first latte this week.
Yay!

Almost among the living....
So, feeling decidedly less crappy today. Still, crappy, but LESS! Woofreakinghoo!!!
This weekend was super low-key. Laundry (not enough, though!), rain, early dinner @ Jeff's Grandma's Saturday. Yesterday we went to breakfast with my dad. Nice. Rain. Not nice. Grr.
After breakfast, I went to my local yarn store (LYS) for their Sunday morning knitting clinic. I was having some serious-ass issues with my Frog Illusion Backpack. This is the first time I have worked with a chart... so add that in with the fact that the instructions preceding the chart COMPLETELY contradict it, and well. Damn. The poor girl there was all like "this pattern sucks!" Yup. And I was knitting twisted. Like, instead of throwing the yarn UNDER on the knit stitches, and OVER on the purls.... I was doing OVER for both. So, now that's fixed... yeah!

At least let it be quick and painless....
Sore throat?
Check.
Achy Body?
Check.
Sinus drainage?
Oh, yeah.
Toddler coughing, sneezing, bitching, moaning, etc?
Um.... someone just kill me now.

Happy V-Day, bloggy friends!
Some of you got an "actual" family card... like with all our names, including our last name. This is slightly edited for our bloggy friends! ;)

Bye 'Bucks....
So, it's raining. Yay. Among dozens of other businesses, offices, etc. our favorite Starbucks burned down to the ground Wednesday night. Seriously. There was a HUGE 5 alarm fire in downtown.... and it took 100 firemen 7 hours to get it completely extinguished. Sad. I mean, before it was a 'Bucks.... when Jeff and I were first dating it was another cool coffee place, Samsara. We used to go and hang out there all the time. Our downtown spans 3 small blocks.
We went to that 'Bucks the entire time I was pregnant with Travis... We went to that 'Bucks the day Travis was born... before my scheduled induction. I called ahead to the hospital to be sure a Caramel Apple Cider was considered a "clear liquid". I went there in the afternoons, daily when Travis was little bitty... just to feel like a real person once again - and get out among the world. It was where I always had my first and last Eggnog Latte, and Peppermint Mocha of the season. I stopped there after Farmer's Market without fail. Travis would always get a cookie and flirt with the female Baristas. Everyone there knew our NAMES! It was like our "Cheers!"
I mean... sure it's "just" a coffee place... but there were memories in that 100 year old building. It was a gathering place... a familiar place... where you'd see the same people... and always run into those you knew. There are 3 other 'Bucks in town... but none of them felt like this one did.
Sure, they will rebuild... and who knows when or what will eventually be housed there... but it won't be the same.
