Aaah....
Thant was nice. :)
We spent the weekend at the in-laws.... and celebrated MIL's B-day (it was the 24th).
I spent all day Friday running errands, and making the accordion scrapbook album of our Mexico trip for part of her b-day gift.
(We also got her a PINK Blue*tooth headset to match her phone.)
Anyway... the project took HOURS.... and included a trip to Costco to pick up the photos, and Target and the craft store for supplies. Oh, and Aaron Bros. for the bristol board, 'Cause... that's how I roll.
I am SOOOOO white..... and I have had a bit to drink, so, um.... shouldn't be blogging. Thank goodness for spell check.
LOL.
Anyway.... I baked the requested German Chocolate cake.... cause I'm Martha like that. And, um. Yeeah. I bought DULCE DE LECHE instead of the sweetened condensed milk that I needed for the frosting. Note to self.... DO NOT go grocery shopping at the end of the Friday before a 3-day weekend. Just DON'T.
Anyway... we ended up going to the store on Saturday for the remaining ingredients.... and all was well in the world.
Sunday, we hung out in the morning, and my wonderful mother-in-law took Travis for us from about 3 until 11:30pm.
I REALLY needed a break!! :)
We went up to The City.... and went to our favorite Victorian Punch House in the Haight. It's a wee bit dive-ey.... but it IS on Haight Street.... so, isn't everything? We had our requisite House Punch, and for round 2 I got a drink called "Kitchen Sink". As in Everything BUT the Kitchen Sink! It had like 5 kinds of rum in it!!! Needless to say... I was feeling good at that point. :)
We went to Escape from New York Pizza and had a slice of yummy pizza. I had my favorite: "You Say Potato". It has sliced, roasted potatoes, and roasted garlic cloves, and pesto. YUMMY!
Afterwards.... it got unbearably chilly! And SUPER foggy.... so we decided to drive back to Walnut Creek. I'm glad we did, cause as soon as we crossed over the bridge, the sun was warm, and we weren't freezing our arses off any longer!
We walked around downtown.... but since it was Sunday, most of the shops had closed.... so we didn't do any shopping. Which is probably a good thing.... anyway. We went to a pub and had a couple of Smithwicks. (See a pattern here? We leave the kid so we can DRINK. In peace.) LOL.
ANyway... we went to dinner at this great Italian place, Tomatinas. And then, after checking in with my MIL, we decided to go see Spiderman at 9:00.
It was a great movie! I really enjoyed it, and the chance to spend the entire day just hanging out with Jeff without the little Ballbreaker! ;)
THANKS AGAIN, LAURA!

Sending love through the Internets.....
If you're the praying type... and even if you're not.... please spread some good thoughts, karma, and love for the Flingers, and their tiny gorgeous little boy Baby O. He made his grand entrance a wee bit early.... and is having a bit of a tough time figuring out this whole breathing thing. So, yes, love to the Flinger family.... and can't wait until you get to bring your precious bundle home for ever and ever, amen. MUAH! Your internet Aunties love you, O!
P.S. I think I know his name due to a comment slip-up... but I'm not tellin'. That's all up to his mommy! ;)

Domestic diva? Ha!
Yawn.
Tired.....
I was planning on doing some laundry this morning before our walk.... but the recycled Airborne tube that we use for the laundry quarters has vanished. WTF??? Most likely, my lame ass left it downstairs last time I washed clothes. Insulting enough.... and they raised the price to wash from 75 cents to $1.25, and from 50 cents to 75 cents to dry. Jeff and I are seriously thinking about splurging on weekly fluff & fold at our laundromat. Cause seriously? 3 washers and 3 dryers for the whole complex of 30 some units. Cheap-ass rental company who lets crap break and takes their sweet ass time fixing it... So, it's not uncommon (at all) for a washer and/or dryer to be out of order for a week, or longer.
And, see? I am home, and getting laundry, soap, and toddler up and down the 17 steep-ass stairs to the laundry during the week is damn near impossible.
Plus, we really, really hate to do - and especially fold - the mountains of laundry that ensue.
Lazy, much? MMM. Maybe. ;)
Anyway.... this cold is still hanging on. I want it to get the hell on.
Nothing much going on besides that. I started a "Heartbreakingly Cute Baby Kimono" from the MD Knitting book.... made with Rowan Denim Yarn. It's all in garter stitch. Yay! No purling! I am making it bigger, cause it's newborn size, and seriously? Small looking! Still unsure if I am gifting this or keeping it for the next one. But, I guess it depends on how it turns out! LOL!
Anyway.... I need to finish up some of my gift knitting, and package it up. Cause Leslie is gonna pop soon!
And, also? If there's nothing I love more than folding clothes, it's weaving in ends. And, boy, do I have some ends to weave in. See?

Haiku Mama!

The theme this week at Mama Says Om is Haiku Mama....
Since I have a 2 1/2 year old boy who has a new scrape, bump, or bruise - seemingly every week....
I offer you my effort, entitled, "Cookies Heal All":
I hear the BOOM! CRASH!
My heart stops, skips. I panic.
You are SUCH a BOY!

Waiting....
Well, I either am having implantation bleeding, or my period is about to start...oh about 6 days early. Either one would explain my lack of energy, stomach sensitivity, and crankiness over the last week. I already took a test this morning.... negative. I is still early to test, though.... I am taking (another) test this weekend if my period doesn't show. So, yeah. Discuss.

Recovery, it's a beotch!
I am convinced.... when dealing with a 2 1/2 year old.... it takes at least as long to recover from vacation as the duration of the actual trip itself. In a nutshell.... I am royally screwed for at least two more days. Yeah. Woohoo!
The routines... they have been nearly impossible to get back into. Especially when said toddler rebels at the mere suggestion of getting into CLOTHING for the love of everything holy! And, don't get me started on shoes! It took me 15 minutes to wrestle him into a pair of jeans this morning! 15 minutes!!!
And yesterday.... the tantrum to end all tantrums. I think it had something to do with the wrong colored water cup.... but it rapidly spiraled out of control.
Add to the fact that I had been throwing up from a head-splitting migraine the likes of which I haven't seen since I was pregnant with Travis - the shrill shrieks and him trying to pry my hands of my eyes.... ( I had photophobia from the headache.) They all were Just. Too. Much.
I called Jeff at 4:00 mid-meltdown, and like a good hubby, he came home early. He located the ONLY 2 Advil left in the house, and removed the screaming child from the premises. He called me in an hour later... after 1/2 a Dr. Pepper and some quiet... it had subsided somewhat. He came back, picked me up, and after a triple grande iced Caramel Macchiato, I was pretty much good. I even cooked dinner!
And, everything was golden. Until 10:00 pm, when the hot water spontaneously started gushing from the faucet in the bath and would NOT turn off!! We tried everything. Really, we did!
I left several messages, and by MIDNIGHT - we finally were able to get it to stop temporarily by the pressure of duct-taping the faucet. I woke up at 4:30am to the water gushing again. I MacGyvered a fix by using the (broken) tension rod from the shower curtain... and that worked. For about an hour. I was up after then. Thankfully he maintenance guy showed up at 7:30.... and replaced the stripped out knob. I still have NO idea what caused it to come on to begin with....
So, yeah. Lovely, no?
Thank GOD tomorrow is Friday... cause this week has kicked my ass! Peeling shoulders, and all!
