Pukey toddler.

The Boy woke up at 5:00am puking. Sigh. We changed our sheets, cleaned up, but he wouldn't go back to sleep. Then he threw up agin at like 7:00am. He took a short nap at around 7:30. But, he woke up right before he threw up again. All that was in his stomach was breastmilk, so, thankfully it wasn't much the last two times. The saddest thing, is that between heaves, he says "Okay... okay..." like, 'I want this to be over, okay??'

We think it was a quesadilla he had last night from our favorite burrito place. Or, the fact that he ate 2 yogurts for breakfast, and had 1/2 a kid's hot cocoa plus whipped cream in the afternoon, and a cheese quesadilla for dinner. But, it's most likely the quesadilla, since he's been sick multiple times. Poor little guy! :( Hopefully this will be short lived, and isolated to him.. Cause, seriously? I hate puking more than anything. I'd rather clean up puke all day, than be doing it myself.

He also had a FOUL diaper this morning.

Speaking of diaper, my nose detects another masterpiece is in the works. PU!!!!

Poor, poor, baby. :(

A book posessed....

As I was in the throes of sleep the other night, I heard something that made me sit straight up in bed. It took me a few seconds to realize, it was Travis' Baby Einstein pop-up book. (Gifted by his uncle last Christmas, I think....)

It was playing music loud, long, and ALL BY ITSELF! I trudged out to the living room - glanced at the clock - 12:30 am.

I located the offending book from on the shelf, and assumed the button was being pushed by the pressure of the other books on the bookshelf.

Back to bed. Warm, cozy, ahhhh. I drifted back - wait what the hell??!

1:15am

It happened again.... the tinny-drawn out music begun to play though the otherwise silent apartment.

So, up I sprung. This time determined to put that book out of my misery.

I hit the button to make the music stop. It stopped. And then started again, as soon as I took my finger ofgf the button. So, I flipped it over. The battery door required a tiny Philips screwdriver. Which, we don't have. Of course.

So, I MacGyvered it with some tape, and all was right with the world.

Back to bed.... and I was on the cusp of sleep, and DAMN IT!!!!!

1:40am

So, I got up AGAIN. and taped an X across the button, taped over the speaker, and flung it into a remote corner.

Feeling triumphant, at last, I retired. And this time it was for good.

Be happy I'm here at all.....

Writing Wednesday on Friday.

Brain-dump of to-do list:

Make Grocery List. Meal Plans. Get your ass back on Sonoma. Shit, Thanksgiving is next week. Okay, after Thanksgiving. But BEFORE Christmas. Crap. Well, DEFINATELY BEFORE New Year's!

Load dishwasher, yes, AGAIN! Damn, I guess our maid has the day off!

Check Post Office box.

Take a shower. No, seriously! You're starting to smell. Ok, well, then - at least wash your face, put on deoderant, pull your hair back, and wear some makeup, so people THINK you've showered today.

Frame pictures, 'cause they are NOT framing themselves.
And, really? Get cracking on your family Christmas gift project. It's going Sloooow.

Shit! Christmas! It's sneaking up on you! Quickly! Okay, find or take a suitable photo soon for this year's Christmas card. And order them!

Shop for SIL's b-day gift - like tomorrow!
Bake and freeze her cake. Or, wait until the last minute and do it Wednesday night. Yup, wait 'til then....

Need to clean fish tank (icky!), assuming there ARE still live fish in there?!

Clean out car, really should get it washed but it needs to be emptied out first.
Do laundry, but go to the bank first and get quarters.

While you're there, walk across the street and get a new parking pass for your car.

Shave Yeti legs, buy razor blades, buy tampons.

Go for a walk today, ok, go for a walk around the MALL today!
Finish my unfinished Digi-Scrapping layouts, and get them printed out.

Paint nails, tweeze eyebrows, clean make-up brushes, go clothes shopping, floss, drink water, Eggnog Latte. Mmm!

So, yeah, 1/2 of this will get done, if I'm lucky.... by this time next week.

Escape!

It's been a tough week...

Travis has had a runny nose.... so playgroups have been out of the picture... it's rained, and I cannot find my regular glasses... so no driving after dark. Somehow sunglasses aren't quite working after 6:00pm. Heh.

Tantrums, and my PMS hormones... made worse by the fact that Travis isn't nursing as much right now.... it's just been One of Those Weeks.

But, my wonderful Husband, in conjunction with my wonderful Mother-in-law, are making it possible for he and I to have a day off together. We're leaving The Youngling with MIL, and escaping up to San Francisco on Sunday for the day. For the first time since Travis was born... we're leaving him. Actually, we saw a movie once, while Travis stayed with Jeff's mom, but that was only a couple of hours... and we were only a mile away.

But, this? This is just what we've been needing. Time to relax, have a drink, see a movie, do some Christmas shopping.... while Travis plays at Gramma's. Yay!!

Yep, he's certainly 2!

Travis has a runny nose. And, I'm sneezing. Again. Yay!

Saturday, The Youngling (my newest term for Travis) Was a crazy, insane, unbearable 2 year old ALL DAY LONG! I suspect that a lot of it is due to his back molars - which appear to be making his gums all red and swollen.

But, still. Bitch, whine, moan, scream, fling, tantrum, flail. Lather, rinse, repeat.

That was how our Saturday went.

I actually had to resort to doing something I never thought I'd do. No, of course I didn't spank him... but I did, in a moment of desperation, and at the peak of an evening meltdown - put him - screaming - in his room. And I closed the door.

I know, it's like GASP! YOU CALL YOURSELF A.P.???!!!

Yes, because he was only in there for maybe a minute. And it was either that, or fling him off our balcony (kidding - but you get what I'm saying...)

Also, besides waiting for that + sign to show up on the pregnancy test with him - it felt like the longest minute of my life! Mommy guilt abounded, I assure you!

And then Jeff went in, and got him. Jeff held him, and talked to him, while Travis pulled himself together. And, while he was doing the daddy resue thing - I sobbed the entire time out in the living room - feeling absolutely awful.

Afterward, though, it was all so much better. I went in and cuddled a much, much more pulled together Travis, and talked to him. I apologised that I had to put him in his room, but that he needed to behave and listen. He really seemed to understand, as he snuggled with me.

Then, I asked if he wanted to go out to the living room and cuddle (nurse). He agreed. "Uccle! Uccle!" And, uccle we did, he was asleep in mere minutes.

I really don't want to use such drastic measures with him regularly. But, I was at the end of my patience quota. It did seem to have a positive impact. Though at the time - I had myself convinced I was a complete parenting failure - an A.P fraud - you name it, I thought it.

Yesterday, he was perfect. Not even an inkling of the toddler monster from the previous day.

Yes... he's not yet a Padwan Learner, and I am not yet a Jedi Master Momma!

Soupin' & Shoppin'

Stoopid DSL has been in and out over the last few days... Argh! I hate when technology doesn't work!!

Right now Travis is watching Curious George on TiVo (the show, not the movie).

I am making fabulous minestrone soup from our favorite restaurant's recipe. Their cookbook is worth the price of this recipe alone. I am not kidding! It's seriously to die for! :) I have made it many, many times, and it's SO good! I have also gone through at least 3 of their cookbooks in the last 10 years!

I have started some Christmas shopping.... nothing terribly crazy yet... but a few things for family here and there over the last week or so.

Oh, on another shopping note.... YakPak has this great deal. 3 bags (it's a mystery grab bag - of BAGS!) FOr $15.00 including shipping. I got a Bubblegum Pink Skip Hop Dash Diaper bag (retails around $70.00)

It's super-cute but SO pink. I think I'm going to trade with one of the ladies on TBW for something denim.

I also got a couple of cute Dickies bags, that I am going to be gifting. One suits my sister-in-law perfectly!

So, that's it - for now.
Travis is pulling his whiny-toddler-mom-get-the-hell-off-the-computer-stunt.

Joy!

Terrific #2!

In about 45 minutes, my Baby Boy is turning 2. It's seriously hard to believe....

It seems like yesterday when I found out I was pregnant. Feels like mere months ago when we actually were able to bring him home. His milestones have just kept going and going. walking, talking, counting, every day, it's something new and exciting!

He has grown and changed so much in the last 365 days... I can't even begin to comprehend how fast the rest of his childhood will fly past us.

He is the light of my life, and he amazes me each and every day.

I can't wait to see what wonderful things this next year has in store for us!

Mommy loves you, little big man! :)

Anatomy of a Mickey Cake

All in a weekend's work.... ;)

Ahh. Monday.

Travis is watching Sesame Street in the background. The bread machine is kneading a tasty loaf right now. (I will try and transcribe the recipe soon!) And... let's see?

Since my last entry I have:

~Put together a massive train table, and track for Travis, taking about 4 cumulative hours over an evening and a following morning.

~Consoled The Boy, and performed minor first-aid when he sliced his finger open after getting it stuck in an old VCR during the assembly of train set.. :(

The keeping a band-aid on saga is a whole other blog entry in itself....

~Started my list for Christmas shopping (for others)

~Started thinking about MY list.

~Gotten myself into a near flame war over the Prop 85 issue on another blog.

~ Baked and decorated the famed Mckey Cake. (Pictures to follow... my camera is in the car.)

It took 3 hours to decorate, but it turned out great! :)

~Changed diaper of son the following morning after consuming above Mickey Cake. The "black" Wilton icing tint was really an amalgam of purple and teal... as evidenced by the technicolor icing explosion crap which temporarily stained Travis' backside. Oh, yeah, fun times! Thank goodness for PhysiObebe! That stuff works miracles!

Yup, that's about it, besides tales of houseweork, grocery shopping, laundry, gift unwrapping (for Travis) and travelling 2 hours each way to visit the in-laws. Oh, yeah, can't forget taking a 45 minute drive last night, because I forgot my diaper bag/wallet/cell phone at the in-laws' house. Thank goodness my awesome MIL was taking SIL back to UC Santa Cruz last night.... otherwise I would have had to pay for her to FedEx it to me. Ugh.

So, um, I think that about covers it! :)

Can't believe Baby Boy isgoing to be 2 tomorrow!!!

Working on a digi-scrap layout of his first 2 years. Hopefully I can get it done today to post tomorrow.

Told ya so...

Remember my post about spam from last Friday? Remebber how I was speculating I'd get some bizarre Google-hits due to the content of my post?

Well, someone found my blog today by Googling "celery ejaculation". How utterly terrifying! I come up #2 when you google that. Cool! :)

Early.

Right now Travis is playing quietly with his farm. He's talking softly, slowly, naming with love. He's saying "Mommy...daddy...baby...apa (grandma), auntie". Just listing off some of the important people in his life. SO. Sweet!!!

My cough is still here. Throat is a little sore. I took some cough syrup before bed, so unlike the night before, I actually was able to sleep. Yay! But, I also have a headache. Not yay!

I spent a good part of the morning yesterday cleaning the windows and sliding door in our living room. I'm talking, windows, sills, tracks, mildew. Ugh. I'd feel better knowing all that crap isn't getting into our lungs. But, alas... in theis gorgeous - albeit damp area we live in, it's a never-ending battle.

Speaking of, it looks like it rained last night, and showers are expected today. Joy!

Think I'll venture out later and get some yeast at Whole Foods. It feels like a bread-making day. (The machine does all the work!!) Also, some loose tea for my diffuser. Yup. Sounds like a plan.

B-Day planning....

I think I'm coming down with a cold. Shit.

I woke up in the middle of the night because I was coughing... the tickle in my throat will not go away. Shit. Shit.

We skipped our Mom's group. Of COURSE! Cause, damn, that would just be all effed-up to subject little ones to my germs.

So, yeah. Hopefully it will be quick and painless.

Somehow, though... I doubt it.

My left arm and entire body is ACHING something fierce, today, too. I carried Travis all over creation yesterday in his costume (sans sling - cause you know, it was all fluffy and crizzap) and I am PAYING the PRICE! Damn.

The Mickey Mouse cake pan I ordered FINALLY came in!!! So, yay! I will be piping roughly 87,000,000 buttercream stars to make this cake for Travis' birthday celebration this weekend.

He's turning 2 on Tuesday, but we're celebrating at the ILs Saturday.

I will post actual pictures if it turns out even remotely resembling Mickey. ;)

Taking a trip to Costco on Friday with my dad and his truck to pick up Travis' gift. We're getting the train table and trainset. It comes with rolling draws that go underneath to hold extra trains and tracks. Plus, it's compatible with Thomas and Brio train accessories. And it's super-reasonably priced... $129.00. Especially compared with the insane price of the Thomas table - $375.00 for a similar set-up with the storage - and that's just the table, and no trains. Plus, Thomas kinda weirds me out. Must be the freakish human face on the train. Ick.
