| Fluffy Butt! |
Well, I'm a lot late in the game, but I'm going to start transitioning to cloth diapers for the most part, starting Monday. I had every intention of CDing Travis' butt from the beginning... I researched all the CD sites before and during my pregnancy. I learned all about the intricities of AIO vs. fitteds vs. pockets. All about wool, hemp... soakers, doublers, covers, you name it. I was planning on going the whole buying our own cloth stash route... as an investment. You know, to have them for Travis - as well as for any future crumb cruncher(s) we may have. but then we moved into an apartment with no laundry of our own... and the cloth delivery service was VERY pricy for the amount of diapes we'd need for a breastfed newborn.
Besides, disposables are so convienient! And Costco used to have HUGE boxes of Pampers Cuisers for cheap. But, then, they stopped carrying the Cruisers, and I HATE Huggies. So now we're stuck we're buying the smaller (more expensive) packages of the size 5 Cruisers. Also, it's about that time... the time to start potty-teaching. Yup.
We bought a potty a few weeks ago. It's in the bathroom - and Travis likes to play with it while I'm peeing. I want him to be able to "feel" when he's wet... hopefully the cloth will be helpful in the transition to the potty. The service is only about $10 a week for 30 cloth diapers. I think that's reasonable. I still plan to use disposables overnight, and when we go out of town... cause I'm not all about toting the poopy diapers back home. But when we're just hanging out close home? He's gonna be sporting that fluffy cloth butt! :) |

| I believe in fairies! |
I belong to a great group of ladies online at The Baby Wearer. Every 4-6 months or so, we do a baby carrier exchange... Called the "Carrier Fairy" in the same spirit as a Secret Santa. We post our wishlists online... and then wait like children for the notice that we've been "Fairied". Then we stalk the forum, and the mailman for our "fluffie" as we call them. Because the packages literally are fluffy! :) So, it was getting to the end of the Fairy round... and I was bumming cause I was one of the last three people who hadn't gotten their notice. But, then, Monday, Jeff came home with a package. I thought it was my tie dye kit for the playsilks I'm going to dye for Travis... but it wasn't. The package was FLUFFY! :) I got a Mei Tai Baby Zippy!
So, I did a little video montage last night about our Fluffy mail, and our trip to the Aquarium yesterday. Enjoy!

| The silver lining to Mommy Guilt... |
Yawn. I am still a bit sleepy... and it's nearly 11:00am.
We went to the ILs on Saturday, for a HOT day of fun & a TON of BBQ ribs. It was really great to see them, and hang out, and do our usual family poker game. We got home at around 2:30 am... which is earlier than usual, considering we leave at 1:30 sometimes. So, when you add a 2 hour drive to that... well, it's icky sometimes.
Travis woke up at 7am yesterday morning when I got up to pee. He cried like normal.... milk bandit just wants to nurse all early morning. Usually, however, I get back into bed, give him his boob, and he's happy, and we're all back to sleep.
Nope, not yesterday. He started REALLY crying. Like a pissed off, hurt, and just couldn't be consoled by my normal shushing, nursing, patting mommy tactics. Instead of getting up with him.... well, I got irritated and snapped a little at him, instead. Jeff got up, and walked with him, and swayed, patted, etc. Then, he finally calmed down, fell back asleep, and we were all able to rest after.
I felt incredibly bad. And, selfish. And, guilty. Travis wasn't trying to make me mad. He needed comfort. And I put my own tired crankiness ahead of him. :( We got up a couple of hours later... and I still felt bad. I had apologized to Jeff at least a half-dozen times.
We went to breakfast with my dad at our favorite restaurant. Travis ate a ton of breakfast. So did we. We were SO stuffed... and then the lethargic laziness started to set in on the way home. Travis nursed a bit when we got home. Then he fell asleep.
My friend called and came by to pick up her carpet steamer I've had in Travis' room since December. She moved away, so, it was really the first chance I've had to give it back.
Long story short... after the steamer gone, I took a step back. I looked at his room, and realized what needed to be done. We had WAY too much stuff in there that needed to be elsewhere. Like 1/3 of his room was filled with misc. storage stuff, boxes, framed art we haven't put up yet, empty electronics boxes, you name it. So, I started to go through and clean it up, putting old toys into a box for storage. Then I put the too-advanced toys and really big clothes away for storage, too. Jeff joined me after a couple of hours... and we went to town. We consolidated all the storage stuff into smaller boxes. We went through all the cds....
We moved the changing table into the closet. We really only use it for poopy changes, cause Travis hates it now. That opened up the room to move his dresser down, and put his toy bins along the wall. We hung up his stuffed animal hammock we've had for.... like a year. All his animals now live in the upper corner of his room. We assembled some cubes as a temporary solution until we get a proper bookshelf. I assembled his big tent he got from Grandma for Christmas. Four or five hours total of work, and we transformed it into a nice space for our little boy.
So, maybe the guilt from the morning ended up being a good thing. I wish I'd taken a "before" pic... but I didn't. Anyway... Here's what it looks like now. A played-in child's room! The real work is in is what you DON'T see... boxes, lame clutter... YAY!

| New camera, wedding update, etc. |

So, this is just one of the MANY reasons why my new Canon SD550 kicks the ass of my clunky 3 year old Kodak EasyShare DX4530.... it's small, light, has a Macro Setting, and a kids setting, and is sex-y! :) We just got it last night!
LOVE it! Early b-day present from my sweet daddy! Yes, I am almost 29, and still call my dad daddy! So sue me!
In other news... the Bridal Shower was a success... I made This Paula Deen French Toast Casserole! It was a HUGE hit! :) Yummy! I split the topping recipe, and did 1/2 with pecans and the other 1/2 with oats. It seriously RAWKED!
So, T Minus 4 days til the Wedding. I tried my dress on yesterday... it STILL fits! Yay! I still have to color my hair, and self-tan my legs. I am WHITE! Also, of course I now have a nice red pimple on my right cheekbone. Hopefully it goes away soon. Any suggestions? Seriously, I am gonna be glopping on the Lancome concealer! I bought a great Bare Escentuals makeup set from Sephora. I love it! I am doing my own make-up, 'cause I didn't want to shell out another $50 for a chick to do my make-up for one day! I am already paying that much to get my hair styled in an up-do!
Hope the pictures turn out from the wedding... 'cause I have spent mucho dinero on this thing!!
I went to Macy's today to buy her the wedding gift. Travis was SUPER cranky!! He didn't want a damn thing to do with the stroller. To make matters worse, I didn't have a single sling with me. Lame. I think I left my Oopa at my In-laws this weekend. I use it the most... my pouches don't really fit me anymore... too big on me! My Mei Tai was @ home. So, no sling + cranky toddler (in arms) who wouldn't stay in the stroller + highly breakable crap that costs as much as my rent x registry with a bunch 'o crap on it that was out of stock = frustrated mommy! :( Anyway, I found some bar glasses she hadn't received yet, and took them up to giftwrap, my screaming child in tow. I dropped the box off, got a claim check and got the hell out of there. I felt a headache settling in for the long haul.
We went to Chipotle for lunch... I got him his usual cheese quesadilla, and me a steak burrito bowl. Yum! Afterwards, we went back to retreive the now nicely wrapped package, and went home. Headache raging on. Even after a nap, and Advil Liquid-gels, it just hung on... after two glasses of white wine, it's still here. Sigh. |

| Grr! |
So... I have been running around like a madwoman for the last few days... Sigh. Saturday, spent all morning with B... we went and got our hair done, and I stayed with her while she was highlighted, and cut, etc. Sunday, we went to the waterpark, which was nice, and mostly relaxing. Yesterday I realized I needed to pick up some things for the Spa Gift Basket I'm making for B's shower... which is THIS SUNDAY.. I decided to call the Maid-of-Honor while I was at the craft store, to check in, etc. (Mostly to find out what she was slacking on!)
And - lo and behold!! She hadn't even begun the favors yet. Nope. Nothing, not even shopped for them... and no ideas, either. She's BARELY getting the games together. Once again...THE SHOWER IS SUNDAY!!!!!! Her excuse? "I've been busy, and haven't gotten around to it yet."
I said "Yet? Were you planning on wating until the end of the week?" To which, of course, she had no response.
Bleh. So, yeah. It's been great. So, of course it's once again up to me. But I told B about it, and she was certainly P.O.'d to say the least. AND THEN the MOH has the audacity to tell B she's frustrated with me?! Must be for making her look bad, heh.
So, um, yeah. I got the organza bags, and these little crystal-looking swans, and Dove chocolates, and printed out the tags, and tonight will be assembling them. So, cutting tags with the scalloped scissors, and hole-punching, and tediously tying every last one of the 40 favors. Yup, all falls on me, all by my lonesome.... or they WILL NOT GET DONE!
Sigh again. When this is all over, I am just going to collapse. Seriously, I am. Or at least get a little tipsy at the reception, cause B owes me that much, right? |

| Drunken Blogging! |
So, I'm just a skosh... hammered right now. Far too much Mirrasou wine, and Newcastles, and a shot of Cspt. Morgain Special Reserve, Such a lightweight... Yup, I am. The Boy is asleep, on the couch next to "Uncle James" right now. We had yummy dinner... Earlier... (pre-drunkeness) I busted open my baby toe on the wooden rocker of the recliner. All I could think of, is Holy Sheet... I have to wear THESE open-toed shoes in exactly two weeks with THIS dress! Bleh. I suck, no? Anyhoo... after the bleeding and band-aid (tm) All was (mostly)well.... Yup. No amount of blood scares me anymore....I went through CHILDBIRTH, my friends! |

| Finally feels "normal!" |
It never ceases to amaze me... how leaving town for a few days requires twice as long to fully settle back into "normal" life... WTF is "normal life", anyway?
So this week, we've just done as little as humanly possible. Went shopping today, and scored some loverly sheets for our hard to fit mattress (18 inches!) normally $99.00 - I got them for $39.99. Not bad for 300 count sateen! :)
I also bought some stuff for Travis... of course. His newest obsession is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney. He LOVES that show! He calls Mickey "Dickey", though, how cute is that? Well, he also calls his penis "Dickey," during diaper changes. Thanks to daddy...Heh.
Anyway, going to get my hair cut by a trained professional tomorrow morning.... B's wedding is coming up in two weeks, and we must look fabulous! ;)
Going to dinner w/ my dad & hubby & the Boy now... talk to you later! |
