I think HELL has officially frozen over

Seriously.... the kid has NEVER slept in his own bed before. It's a miracle! After he nursed to sleep, I moved him into his converted crib/toddler bed. I even TOOK A SHOWER! With the monitor close by, of course. Right now, I am listening to his sweet breathing on the monitor as I am blogging... and Skyping hubby about the miraculous feat!

Rollin' in the dough!

Since the weather was kinda dreary... I whipped my very first batch of home-made Kool-Aid Play Dough. (I had to knead in a lot of extra flour to get it to a nice consitency, nearly another cup.)
Travis had a ball using my expensive Wilton cookie cutters, and imported ravioli crimper to create colorful masterpieces! We also discovered that Peek-a-Blocks are great to use as Play Dough "stamps" :)

'Cause I'm a copycat....
Five Movies You Can Watch Over and Over:
1. True Romance
2. Orgazmo
3. Office Space
4. Fight Club
5. Pulp Fiction

Five embarrassing Songs that You Know All the Words To:
1. Every Backyardigans song, ever. (I am SUCH a mom!)
2. Ace of Bass "I Saw the Sign" and I sing it in the car every time it comes on my Sirius.
3. Every NKOTB song from my tween years.
4. ABBA. Oh yeah... I loves me some ABBA. Hubby? No so much.
5. The entire soundtrack to Grease!

Five Memorable Halloween Costumes:
1. Um, I was a 7-Up spot in 7th grade. With big huge sunglasses and white gloves. My mom used like a gallon of red spray paint on a foam frame. It just kept soaking in more and more paint. The thing weighed like a zillion pounds, and smelled terrible. Plus, there was this guy who used to be my boyfriend who called me "Kotex" after that. Asshole. He was just bitter 'cause I wouldn't let him have sex with me after he swore he couldn't get me pregnant because he was "too young". Whatever.
2. Mime in high school. It was cool, 'cause no one made me talk all day in class. :)
3. I was a strawberry in kindergarten. My mom made my costume and stuffed with tons of pillows, and sewed on individual seeds. It was completely adorable.
4. Grim reaper my freshman year. With the full-on death make-up and sickle. It kicked so much ass. NO ONE knew who I was in real life!
5. Tinkerbell when I was 6 or 7. My brother was Peter Pan. I am almost 4 years older, so I was this HUGE fairy and he was this tiny Peter Pan. Heh. :)

Five Celebrities You Believe May Secretly be Alien:
1. Jessica Simpson. Eew. Just eew.
2. The Olson Twins
3. Michael Jackson
4. Michael Moore
5. Hillary Clinton

Five Occupations that You Know You Could Never Do:
1. Foot Doctor. Nasty.
2. CalTrans worker scraping dead animals off the roadways. Icky.
3. Proctologist. (No explanation is needed, right?)
4. Anything requiring me to climb up ladders. Fucking freaks me out!
5. Skin doc.

Five Books You've Recently Read Outside of Schoolwork:
1. The Baby Book by Dr. Sears (I have been reading this since before I even got pregnant, and I haven't stopped)
2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, plus a million other baby books. Over. And. Over.
3. Baby Signing book... again... something I've read a ton over the last year.
4. The Happiest Toddler on the Block. (Hope it works soon!)
5. Becoming the Parent You want to be

Five Ways to Perfectly Spend an Afternoon:
1. Spending mad crazy cash at Gymboree. (Hopefully with someone else's credit card!)
2. Chillin' at the Aquarium with my sweet baby boy
3. Starbucks while Travis is napping in the sling. It's seriously cute.
4. Ab Fab Marathon, beer, and way too much pizza
5. Wandering around San Francisco for hours

Five Lines You Blatantly Stole From a Movie, TV, a Commercial, or Song:
1. "What-evah! I'll do what I waunt!" - Cartman from SouthPark
2. "Why you bringin' up old shit?" - Friday
3. "Old, busted hotness" Men in Black II
4. "I'll kick you squaw in the nuts!" Cartman, again.
5. "What, no fuckin' ziti?" From the Sopranos

Not Your 5 Favorite Foods, But the 5 You're Most Likely Eating:
1. Leftovers
2. Travis' snacks. They're always in my purse. Goldfish, Gerber Fruit Juice Treats, etc.
3. Non-fat sugar-free vanilla latte from Starbucks. I really want a full-fat Caramel Macchiato with extra Caramel. Mmm.
4. Kashi Go Lean Crunch
5. Splenda

YOU!

I'm just sayin'....
Something rather frightening has occured to me over the last two days. Call me paranoid... but... I kind of have been feeling a bit "off". As in having to pee. A lot. and having a strange feeling in my side... And backtracking... well HOLY CRAP... we probably just so happened to "do it" on like, oh... day 14 of my cycle. Which means I was very, very, fertile. But since it wasn't even a week ago... well, don't freak out yet. BUT... looking back at my early 2004 blog, well... this was the first sign, and it was at about the same amount of days past ovulation. Yeah, so... that would be interesting to say the least.

Baby steps!
Guess what happened a few minutes ago? Travis and I just got home from being out and about.... I put in a Baby Einstein DVD for him. We were waiting through the lame-ass FBI warning, and he was standing next to me holding onto my leg. (As always, he's only ever stood unassisted for a few seconds)Suddenly,he let go - and stood very solidly - all by himself for 5 seconds. I took a few steps back, and he kept standing there... then he took 3 steps towards me! It's incredible! Hopefully this means he'll be walking for real soon! :)I've been trying not to worry about this whole not standing unassisted/not walking yet thing... but he's 16 months old now, and it's about time!

Let's talk about sex....
So, yeah... Travis woke us up at 7:00 am. Lovely. We made the best of a potentially bad situation, though. Jeff closed off the hallway door, and put him in his room to play.

And, then we "played" a bit ourselves. For the first time in... well... I'm not telling you, but let's just say it's been so long, I probably qualified as a born-again virgin.

Yeah, yeah... time has definately gotten away from me... balancing motherhood, AP stuff like co-sleeping, breastfeeding... it's not all that easy. Plus, as I mentioned before, my libido has all but evaporated post-baby. We have a very loving, affectionate relationship. Plus, we have been married for almost 10 years... trust me... we've had plenty of sex during that time... so it's not the end-all-be-all... but it feels good to finally reconnect as a couple.

So... it was nice, but it was also uncomfortable, and a bit painful.... because of my episiotomy scar. Is this normal? Please tell me it gets better? Any words of encouragement? Help a sister out!

Why I love PhotoShop
I found some photos on the internal memory of my camera from Christmas. By far my favorite one is of me and Travis while he's sleeping in the sling.

"Before":

After only retouching my lovely adult acne:

After some more serious retouching/clone-tool using:
How would I my face look with none of my moles?

Hmm... I might have to get that done for real one day....

After some more retouching and some nifty torn-paper filters:

Hey, we're pop-art!

Sneezy
Sigh. I have ANOTHER cold. And this time, I'm nearly certain Travis has it as well. The kid's been sneezing all day. Bleh. It's vacillated from warmish to freezing temps here lately, so I'm sure that's the culprit. Lame ass, though.

My friend is only here 'til Friday... and if I'm not feeling well, I can't in good consciences subject her and her little one to my (our) germs.

Last night, however, kicked ass. We had a Sopranos Party, and our good friend James came over with his sweet lady, and I made my famous monster lasagna, garlic bread, and salad. He brought over two bottles of a local 2003 Syrah. Also a Bittersweet Chocolate Ganache Torte from Trader Joes.... can you say decadence? Because I can!

Sigh. I think we'll have leftovers tonight... 'cause I certainly don't feel like cooking. Plus, the kichen, shamefully, is still a shambles from last night's festivities.

It'll be 24, a hot shower, then to bed with my sorry self this evening.

Lazy-ass me
Lazy... lazy....

So, no updates for almost a week... I am so lame... bleh. Well, my good friend has been visiting from AZ since Monday... so we've been cavorting around like fools for nearly a week, and we shall for next week as well. She's the worst influence on my dieting, though. ;)

She spent the first day gushing about how much weight I've lost, how great she thinks I look... and then... well... Coldstone's, Crepes-a-Go-Go, and Starbucks, just to name a few of my indulgences, just in the last couple of days. It's That Time of the Month also, so I'm staying far away from a scale til next week.

My car is getting fixed, so I've been driving around in a rental... power everything.... it's nice, but I want my car back.

Also, The Boy's sleeping schedule is all shot to hell, and he's STILL teething. Grr.

Full Recovery!
Well, we're all better now. Wednesday was the first day I actually felt mostly normal. Seriously, I wouldn't wish any of that on my worst enemy.

So, I am up blogging becuase my darling child is a buttmunch and wanted to be up. I figured, at least Jeff can get some sleep... so The Boy is in front of Baby Einstien right now.

Today the ILs are coming down for a visit, and we're going to the Aquarium. Jeff's Grandma is going to join us all for breakfast and Aquariuming. As long as she doesn't say anything about me nursing, no one gets hurt. Heh.

Let's see... last night we went to Chili's for dinner with my dad, and that was nice, as always. :)
Especially since he paid! It's SO nice being able to look food in the face again.

Afterwards we came home and I seriously scrubbed our bathroom. It sparkles now! So nice, cause it was a scary, scary place before.

Shit, I'm staring to get hungry. Must. Not. Eat. Going to breakfast in 3 hours. Bleh.
