The Christmas Haul.
We had a lovely Christmas. Went to the in-laws and did the whole 2 hour
gift-unwrap-athon. We all did well. Especially Travis. Wow, did that kid make out like a bandit! He got: A Mega Bloks wagon, a See-N-Say, Mega Bloks Tiny 'n Tuff Rescue set, a shape sorter dump truck that goes when you push the guy's head down, a Mega Bloks dump truck, and Mega Bloks train, AND a Pooh Mega Bloks set, a Mambo Combo Tent and tunnel playset, a Winnie the Pooh toy box hand-painted by his talented Auntie, another shape sorter, Alphabet Peek-a-blocks and tons of books and clothes.

I got some Tutti Dulci Creme Brulee Bath and Body Works lotion, BBW Fresh Vanilla perfume (both from Jeff and the Boy), a sweater and scarf set, a Food Network Cookbook, a digital bathroom scale that remembers your weight/goal weight/pounds lost (from Jeff), a tea kettle, March of the Penguins DVD , a crappy kitchen utensil set from K-mart(that I'm returning - thanks J's Grandma...)and also $80 from my dad, which I spent on more gifts for Travis. :)

I also got a blue Paisley Hotsling, and a Lucky Baby Pouch Sling in the cool Lucky Circles print! (from my Carrier fairy, and me!)

Jeff got: A Norelco Cool Skin shaver (from me and the boy) and a wallet (also from us), The Dead Zone Season 3 on DVD, a wireless router for our computer, a Guinness Pub Mirror, and a Guinness sweat shirt, a Sweater (thanks Grandma...), StarGate Atlantis Season 1 DVD set, 24 Season Four, and San Jose Sharks tickets to go with MIL's husband and his brother and friend.

Our communal gifts were: 2 lbs of See's candies Soft Centers... what are they trying to do? KILL ME??
bathroom towels, a fish shower curtain, bathroom rugs,a $30 iTunes gift card, and a Starbucks coffee grinder

We are seriously going to need to move into a 3 bedroom place to fit all this stuff in! :)

Yup, it's a great time of year!

Merry F-ing Christmas!
So yesterday, I went to the post office. Oh. My. God! All I needed was some stamps in order to mail out our Christmas cards. I stood in a 5 person line to use the cool-ass postal mailing, and stamp machine that accepts credit and debit cards. When I got up there... yup. Out of stamps. There was a line of (I am serious here!) nearly 30 people all waiting in line to mail packages. I was not going to wait with my squirmy baby who was arching backwards to get out of the sling. Nope.

So, onto Plan B. The UPS Store. Sure, they charge $3.00 more than the Post Office for a book of stamps - I needed 2 books. But, since they would be the charming gingerbread people stamps,

I was going to do it. Pay $6.00 more than the post office. For the SAME stamps, yes I was.

But, as you may see where this is going... they were all out of Christams stamps. All out of stamps, except for the "goddamned Snowy Fucking egret stamps."

(Jeff and I joke about these all the time...) I was certainly NOT going to spend $6.00 MORE than the Post Office for "goddamned snowy f-ing egret stamps!"

So, this morning, I will venture out into the heart of the beast... in search of my beloved Gingerbread People stamps.

The silver lining...
To peeing out of your butt, and puking up your guts for a couple days... is that sometimes afterwards, you find out that in the process you have managed to lose 4 pounds! :)

Poor little man...
Well... the good news is that the worst of our pukey-run-fest seems to be over. The bad news is, Travis got it too. My poor sweet boy puked twice last night/early this morning. We were heartbroken, of course... he's never vomited before, except for spit-up when he was little tiny. It's much different though... when it's chunks. So we think it was the eggs or the bacon.... because that's the common denominator in our food yesterday. He seems mostly better... he's been nursing like crazy, which is good.

I put a call into his Ped.'s office this morning - just to be safe. I'm still waiting for a call back from the nurse, though.

Also, I called the Health Department and filed a complaint about the restaurant. It's one thing for Jeff and I to get sick.... But no one makes my sweet little boy sick without hearing from me.... The bastards!

Oh, the ped's office just called. She told me it could also be gastritis, which is going around. Also, to keep an eye on his wet diaper out-put, and the poopyness. Pretty much what I already knew to do... and to push fluids, nurse, etc. SO, yeah. Makes me feel a bit better. :)

Anyway, he's napping now... so I'm going to try and pick up around here while he sleeps. Our dishwasher that they only installed a couple of months ago is broken. Sigh. They are coming on Friday to fix it. GRR> back to hand washing the dishes. I hate this! Also, we still have a hole in my bathroom ceiling from the burst pipe leaking a couple of weeks ago. They need to fix that this week too. When it rains, it pours, huh?

Not for the faint of heart.
Food poisoning blows! Hubby and I both have it. The suspected culprit is the new Black Bear Diner that just opened here. We went to breakfast there with my dad this morning. Hubby and I had the same omelette for breakfast. Oh. My. God. Pukey, stomach cramps, the runs... you name it. We're SO ill! Thankfully, The Boy is showing no symptoms. Jeff and I... well... suffice it to say our commode is going to need to be replaced once this whole thing is over.

Time heals all...
Two years ago today...without question... was the worst day of my life.

Today... in comparison is the very best day.

What a difference time makes.

I wouldn't have wished to go through it, of course - I would never have wished it on my worst enemy... Two years ago today I felt like my world was crumbling. My dreams had come to a screeching halt. I was drowning in tears of unfathomable sadness. Today, I feel such unexpressable joy when I gaze upon my son's sweet sleeping face. I know the best is yet to come. I remember... I always will. I love this child of mine so much. I also know he wouldn't be possible without the loss of my first one. But, still... it's bittersweet to say the least.

Calgon... take me away!
Not to be a bitchy, whiny, ungreatful-sounding mommy... cause, really, I am not! I just think I'm having a bit of mommy burnout. I need a break! Badly. It only took a year and some odd days... but, the time has come. Yup. I love my little boy with everything I have. Really, really, I do. And I feel terrible thinking that I might get in any way resentful of nursing, or co-sleeping, or wearing him in the slings... or staying home with him. I hope I'm not. It's just that I never get any time to myself. Ever. I feel like my patience is wearing thin. With my husband, who is the sweetest man ever... I don't want to feel snappish... especially over stupid little things that don't matter. It's so not me. Sigh.

The boy has an erratic sleeping schedule during the day... sometimes he won't nap at all, other times he sleeps for 2 hours twice a day. He still nurses A LOT! If I had to guess... 8-10+ times a day. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for an hour or more. Even with the solids he eats. And he's never taken a bottle, and won't take my milk from his Nuby cup. I am his pacifier, food source, and security blanket. I love it most of the time. But the last couple of weeks.... I am starting to feel like my marbles are getting scattered. Where does that leave me? I really don't know.

I told hubby I need to join the gym. I need to start making time for myself. This involves eating right, drinking my water, and taking my vitamins. I take such good care of Travis, and I need to do the same for me. An unhealthy, uhhappy mommy, is not what I want to become.
