| Vegas, baby! |
We're leaving early-assed in the morning Friday to go to Vegas for 3 1/2 days! Yay! We SO need a break! Haven't gone anywhere since our family reunion in June.... Wyoming sucks ASS compared to Vegas, though!
So, I spent the morning at the laundromat doing and folding 8+ loads of laundry. With the baby in the sling for the most part. Fun stuff! Necessary evil, though... the fluff-n-fold was too expensive to even consider!
So, now I'm all addicted to Myspace , and shit... lovely. I KNEW I shouldn't have gotten all up in that "ish".... oh well. Too late now! I found some long-lost high school buddies on there though! You can find me over here :)
Anyway... gonna nap with the baby and get up later and pack for SIn City.
:)

| Tropical Storm Travis at work... |
Travis' new favorite thing to do!
Oh yeah... it's on like Donkey Kong! It's also hopeless to try keep him away from the dvds... or the curtain of the sliding door... or the Tivo remote.... or ANY remote, for that matter!
He's entranced by everything. When he's redirected to something (anything!)less destructive, he protests (screams) like a toddler shunned. Jeff calls him an "enfaddler" (the French word for baby is enfant+toddler)He's stuck right in the middle of the two stages, allright. Happy with his newfound powers to locamote, and driving me crazy with his ability to demolish a room in 2.3 seconds flat. Sigh. Also, he loves to find new and unusual ways to bash himself in the face, head, and other appendeges. He crashes headfirst into the sliding glass door, doorframes, and walls, he bonks himself on chairs, he smacks himself with hard edges of board books, he steamrolls over pointy ends of toys... you name it, he does it. The daily crop of resulting bruises must have people wondering whether I beat my child. Which, of course I do not! Poor guy... hopefully these self-inflicted injuries will pass soon! |

| Those Gerber Graduates Mini-Fruits apple snacks look almost exactly the same coming out as they do going in. Don't ask me how I know this, please! |

| Yay! |
Well, Baby Boy "got the download from baby central!" That's what we say when he does something new or nutty... He's crawling! Today Travis actually crawled! Forward! Many times! :)
I am so proud of him! I just ordered a bunch of child-proofing stuff from One Step Ahead last night... and not a moment too soon! He also closed his bedroom door while we were in the hallway. When Jeff opened the door (slowly, and carefully) there he was - up on his knees, pressing against the door with his body, and smiling broadly! What a crazy little man I have!
We went to the in-laws on Saturday. I borrowed my Sister-in-law's South Beach Diet book. I think I'm going to try it when Travis is weaned. It sounds more like my style than Atkins or even Weight Watchers. I hate writing down everything I eat... seriously, I felt OCD or something when I've been on it!
We played our usual Texas hold-em. I was in until the end! Also for the first time ever! The last hand, I went all-in with the other two players. I had pocket 10s. Chris (my brother in-law's best friend) went all in with a pair of 7s. The other guy Willie (also a friend of theirs) was only with a 10 and 6, but he ended up making a flush on the river! We all thought I'd won... including Willie... at first he did't realize he'd made it... because there were a lot of hearts and diamonds on the flop. So that was pretty nuts!
Yesterday, we went out to brunch with my dad, and cleaned the apartment. Later, we went clothes shopping at Old Navy. We also went to Target to but stuff for organizing, etc. We also went to Toys R Us and looked at stuff for Travis' room. We bought him a Darth Tater for when he's older. (Mr. Potato Head in a Darth Vader outfit.)
Today I went to Physical Therapy. They did massage, exercises, and ultrasound/muscle stim. I've been having pelvic pain, lower back issues, and the like since I was pregnant with Travis. I figure, he's almost a year old, I probably shouldn't be having these pains still. A sit turns out, my pelvis is not correctly aligned on the left side, and I have weakness in my pelvic girdle and low back. It's due to pregnancy, lack of exercise, lalala, etc.
Hello? I have a crazy 11 month old baby! He requires my full and constant attention! How am I supposed to exercise? Apparently, she wants me to let him cry instead of carrying him all the time. Whatever, lady. She also asked how much I was nursing, since I mentioned that I knew I still had hormones from nursing messing with my ligaments. PT Lady seemed genuinely shocked when I said casually, "Oh, I don't know... maybe around 10 times a day. I don't really keep track."
She said " On-demand nursing, then... Well, he's got you wrapped around his finger, doesn't he? He has to learn that he can't always have instant gratification." and then she added, "Aren't you feeding him table food yet?" I assured her yes, I was. Then in the nicest terms possible, I suggested that she should do her job, and leave me to mine... mothering my child how I see fit. I love how just because someone had a kid or two 30 years ago, they think that they can tell other people how to raise their kids. Beotch. |

| It's kinda like this.... |
Sigh... alas, the police department where I live sucks major balls.
The officer was unable (wtf??!) to determine who caused my car accident. What that means is... since I have no collision on my vehicle, I most likely will be responsible for the repairs to my car. Sucking more balls.
Bleh.
But you know, that's how these things go...
We had our first morning mommy-and-me class today. 9:30 am. Ugh. We went to Starbucks with Jeff and I got a plain old drip coffee with Splenda and Sugar in the Raw. Not as good as my usual Caramel or Pumpkin Spice extravaganza... but a lot healthier. Not to mention less expensive.
The class was nice, though. New teacher, some new faces, and a lot of old ones too. Some of the babes are already walking! Gads! Mine is not even figuring out how to crawl yet, not forwards, anyway. He does pretty okay backwards, but his preferred way of mobility is kind of a stretch paired with a sideways cartwheel/butt pivot kinda thing. He gets to where he's going - albeit slowly... At least it gives mommy a little more time to come between him and the dvd collection just calling to be pulled from the shelves.
Can't believe my little butterball is almost a year old already! Wow! Where has the time gone? It's gone too fast. I need a haircut, a pedicure, and a massage. Maybe someone will give me one for Travis' birthday. Yeah, mommy's should get the gifts for the first birthday anyway! We're the ones that have done all the work! Between the 9 months of baby baking, and labor, delivery, recovery, flab, and stretch marks... then the sleepless nights, and the million diapers and thousands of hours spent nursing... and laundry, and everything else we do- we all deserve a week at CubMed! :) |
