Tummy trouble
Today is a beautiful day! Unfortunately for me, I must have eaten someting that disagreed with my system. My tummy is upset, and I've been running to the bathroom all morning. At least I'm not tossing cookies sick, which is good.

We went to a matinee of Star Wars Saturday. It was good, and Travis slept in the sling the entire time. Then we went to get Travis some new toys. He's getting bored with the play gym... so we've retired it, and he needs some more stimulating toys. We bought the Peek-A-Blocks wagon. He loves it! :) It makes sounds and lights up, and later he'll be able to pull it around.

We took Travis swimming on Sunday for the first time. He hated it at first, but then kind of liked it later. He's so cute!

Sunday evening his 2nd tooth broke through his gums. We're still having the biting issue when I nurse, but we're working on it. There is another LLL meeting Thursday morning, so perhaps we'll go again....

What else? Travis says "mama" all the time now "mamamamammamamam". He'll say it before his eyes are even opened in the morning. It's SO adorable! :)

Also, he's learned how to blow raspberries. And, spit bubbles. HE can sit up a little at a time unassisted, but his big old head makes it hard to sit for long without toppling over. We're working on it, though.

I took him to the park yesterday. The geese came RIGHT up to our blanket. He freaked out a little, but when it became apparent that they weren't going to eat him, he relaxed a bit.

Shopping Saturday!
Ahhh... nice day today. I am SO tired. I walked all over today with Travis in the sling.
Yesterday night my dad came over for a bit, and hung out with me & Trvais before Jeff got home. Then Jeff got home and we left to do our usual Friday night Costco/Ralph's shopping. My dad wanted to come with us to Costco, so he followed us there. As I was getting the diaperbag ready to leave he comes up to me and puts a bunch of rolled-up 20s in my hand. He says the money is to help with the Costco trip, and smiles. I quickly flipped through, and realized he'd given me $200. I protested that he couldn't do that, and tried to give him the money back. He's so funny... he did the Eric Cartman thing: "I do what I want!"

I told him thank you, and he said if it makes me feel better, that it's Travis' money, and that I should spend it for him.

How sweet is that?

So we went to Costco, and shopped, and bought Daddy a rotisserie chicken for dinner and also one for us. Travis fell asleep in his sling. Everyone was looking at him and smiling, cause he's SO CUTE! While I was getting into line, one of the employees came up and asked where I got my sling. Then we said bye to my dad and went and did our other shopping.

Then we came home, and had some Newcastle, and ate chicken and watched Numbers, and chilled. We decided to go shopping at Old Navy, and the outlets for clothes for us and The Boy.

Saturday morning I got up early while Jeff and the baby were still asleep and did laundry. Then I made breakfast and coffee.

We came, we SHOPPED! We conquered! We went to Old Navy and bought Travis 2 hats, and swim shorts, and lounge-pants, and a flag shirt, and flag bodysuit also T for me (for only 99 cents!) and another top for me. We went to Hallmark - bought all 4 of the new 4th of July beanies, JC Penney - bought 6 nice dressier shirts for Jeff (only $7.00 each marked down from $35 each!) We went to the Gilroy outlets and went to Carter's - bought Travis 2 new footed jammies. We went to Osh Kosh and bought him a cute green striped romper with an alligator on it, and new socks. We went to Children's Place (didn't get anything) and had lunch.

Jeff went to BevMo while I nursed Travis, and then I went to Lane Bryant while Jeff took Travis (in the sling!!!! for the first time EVER!) to Barnes & Noble.

When we met up again, Jeff told me that Travis looked up from the tummy to tummy hold in the sling, and expected to see me. He was so suprrised daddy was holding him in the sling he started cracking up! Sweet baby! It's the first time he's laughed because he THOUGHT something was funny, not because we made him laugh.

Then we went to Tarjay and bought stuff off of Hailey's registry for her birthday party tomorrow. It took forever to find the clothes, the SKU is different for each size, and everything ounds the same, but is totally different. I hate figuring stuff like that out.... so we got her two cute tanks, and shorts, and Crayola bath paint, bath crayons, and other toys for the bath. We got Travis some Roll-a-balls.

Then we left Target, and drove home. We got take-out Chinese for dinner. Yum! Whew! That was a lot of shopping! Going to go sleep now...

6 month old chomping boy!
Travis has his first tooth pop through Monday! He thinks Mommy is a teething ring, which is Not Acceptable. We went to our first LLL meeting last night, which proved to be very informative. Also, it proved to be VERY loud, with numerous toddlers running around making a racket. The Boy was the youngest there by 5 or so months. Most of the kiddos were in the 12-18 month range. Although I do no plan on nursing much past a year, I admire those who do it for so long. I bought a new sling there, too. It's black with a batik ivory bamboo pattern. It's less bulky than my Over the Shoulder Baby Holder, and therefor better suited for the warmer weather. Next month we are headed to my family reunion in Wyoming. God knows how hot it will be there... hopefully the sling will work then, since we will be flying sans stroller.

This afternoon we have Mom's Group. Afterwards I will probably go to the mall and walk with The Boy, or Target to get a b-day gift for Hailey (Jeff & my God Daughter) who just turned 2.

Gonna go nurse The Boy now, and make some tea for me.

Loss of self?
Lately I have been struggling with something very personal. I am not sure if there is a real solution, or if this is just the way things are going to be from here on out. Since becoming a Mom, I think I have lost my old self completely. Not that I expected for things to stay even remotely the same, but maybe they have changed too much. I love my son with all my heart and soul. That's not what it is, at all.

I just feel that my life revolves completely around my baby boy. I have no time for myself and no time for my husband. On the same token, I feel like I want my life to revolve around my baby completely. But then, I also don't.

Does that make any sense whatsoever?

I find myself holding contempt (maybe it's also pangs of jealousy?) for those who can cavalierly leave their baby with Grandma, or whoever so they can spend time with hubby alone, for a few hours, or even heaven forbid a weekend to run away together. Carefree, just drop them off with some diapers, clothes, and bottles, and off they go.

I don't have that luxury, not right now at least.
I am certain that there will come a time that it will happen... just not any time in the forseeable future.

I work so hard at having an "attached" relationship with my baby. I can't say I am doing the same for myself or hubby. I love my husband so much. He has been more than understanding in the last 6 months, I assure you. But I know that he has to miss the alone time as much as I do sometimes. The luxury of doing nothing but laying in bed naked together on a weekend morning, just relishing the time together to do whatever we please... are those days gone forever?

Also, we still have yet to resume our sexual relationship... and I'm sure that has tons to do with why I'm feeling this way. He hasn't mentioned it. I'm kind of relieved, yet hurt at the same time. But I also dn't want to bring it up. I'm scared. Scared it will be painful, scared I'll get pregnant again right away, scared it will be somehow different for us both.

I also have not spent ANY time alone since Travis' birth. I blame myself for that, not the baby.

He won't take a bottle, and I think that's why I am more than a little hesitant.
Sometimes he nurses every two hours, sometimes, it's every three to four, sometimes it's a lot more frequently.

Also, the only time hubby has off are the weekends. He works from 9am-7 or 8 at night every weekday. The last thing I want to do is sacrifice our short time together for time for me to be alone. But I want time alone. And time alone tgether. How is this going to work?

This whole thing is a catch-22. I am trying desperately to balance this self/wife/mother thing, and I feel that I'm failing. Failing myself, failing my husband. At least I'm not failing my son. Or am I?

My first Mother's Day, the Weekend
My first Mother's Day weekend was beautiful! My MIL came down with Bob and Sarah. We all went out to a lovely brunch on Saturday. She got me a lovely card, and also a Bed Bath & Beyond card. We walked on the bike trail for awhile, and just hung out and talked. Then we took them to our favorite vista overlooking the beach. It was so beautiful!

After that we came to our place and met Jeff's Grandma. We all went out to dinner at Bubba Gump's and it was nice, and really yummy! Afterwards we all came back here and Jeff's Grandma left after a bit. Laura, Bob and Sarah stayed until around 11:30, even though they had a long drive ahead of them. SO sweet! :)

Yesterday Jeff and I went to breakfast with a friend and then went to CostCo, and to Borders, and to OSH to look at propane grills. Then we came home, watched TV and vegged. Travis' bottom two teeth are SO close to breaking through! He's been fussy for days, but I keep giving him Tylenol and Infant Motrin, and lots of love and cuddles. Poor little guy! :(

MMM, berries!
Right now I smell so good! I want to eat my arm off! I'm wearing "Frozen Daiquiri" lotion from Bath and Body Works. It comes out Tuesday, but since I have SUCH a cute baby, they let me buy it early! :)

Samantha (a mommy from Parent's Place) and I have been hanging out for a few hours after PP on Thuraday afternoons. Usually it's the mall, Starbucks, and sometimes lunch. Yesterday she treated me to lunch at Chipotle's and a White Chocolate Mocha at Starbucks. (I watched her baby for a few hours on Wednesday while she had a job interview.) So, yeah! That was fun. We went to Gymboree, and tried tons of cute hats on our babes. I bouught Travers the Chamelian one, and a matching bodysuit. He's SO freaking adorable, I will have to post a picture in that outfit when I put it on him!

Anyway... my breakfast has consisted of 4 See's Krispy samples, and milk. I guess I should eat some real food now!

Unf*ckingbelievable!
I called a bit ago to check on the status of my car. The one that took no less than 430 cranks of the ignition before it started to drive it to the shop this morning. Guess what? You probably already have...

They can't get it NOT to start up! On the FIRST try!! How's that for ya? fuckityfuckfuckfuck!

So they're going to let it sit for a couple of hours and try it then.

Unfuckingbelievable.

The Asstard actually insinuated that nothing is wrong with the car, and it's merely something in my head that possessed me to bring it in.

Yeah, that's me... AFTER paying a trained professional a couple of weeks ago to correctly install the baby's car seat. AND THEN having to re-install it myself in hubby's 2 door tiny car yesterday. AND THEN the stupid LATCH strap didn't seem to be long enough to work. So, I had to maneuver it using the seatbelts. IN 75 degree heat! FOR MORE THAN 30 minutes! WHILE the baby was screaming! Later, I will have to put it BACK in my (LATCH-less) car. Yeah. I just do this shit because I'm bored, buddy....

Stuff, you know... things
So my car is in the shop for the second time in as many months. Damn it! My starter went out mid-February. I think it's the same thing this time. Why? Oh, I don't know... because
MY CAR WON'T START, that's why! So, I'm waiting for the garage to call me back to let me know for sure what it is... GRR! I don't trust them at all... it's the dealership garage, and they are known crooks. But, since we bought the extended warranty, it won't cost anything if it IS the starter. But they'll probably find a way to screw us out of more money. Bleh.

Anyway. Travis rolled over from tummy to back last night for the first time. He only did it once, and I think it was by accident. Usually he just wiggles his legs a lot, and hopes that will make him roll over again. So cute! Also, for the last several days his babbling has become more coherent. He actually says "Mama" but I know it's not on purpose.

It still makes me smile, though! :) He's decided his feet are better thn any of his toys, and takes great joy in putting them into his mouth. I can SEE where his two bottom teeth will be coming through any time now. So far, no pearly whites have appeared.

I apologise if my entries are becoming seriously boring. I never get a chance to update as cool things happen. When they do, I mean.

I love my simple family life, fairly free of drama and such. I'll take boring over drama-filled any day, thank you very much!

I downloaded Michael Buble from eDonkey. I've been listening to it today. It's cool, chill, loungish, kinda like Sinatra, or Matt Dusk.

I gained a pound back this week. Oh well. Baby Boy has increased his feeding frequency dramatically, and it's far more important for me to be able to continue to nurse him than lose weight right now. Still, 10 lbs in 3 weeks isn't bad!
