My famous family (in-law)
Jeff's Uncle Ron is in this short film with Ellen Degeneres. It's with AMex, for the Tribeca Film Festival He's the FedEx guy! :)

Anyway, I just saw a flash of him on the screen on the Eleen Show just now! So cool! Go check it out!

Baby boy is going through a growth spurt. He is nursing constantly, and sleeping TONS the last few days. Very tired mommy, I assure you!

Week redux
Baby Boy is asleep right now on the couch. I was able to sneak away for a moment to update. It's been a rather uneventful week... we gave Travis applesauce for the first time on Monday. He liked/hated it. He ate it all but made faces the whole time. We gave him some more last night, same thing.

Monday I went to the Lancome counter and did some damage... I needed new foundation and concealer. Photôgenic foundation and Maquicomplet concealer set me back about $65.00. It's worth it though, and I haven't bought makeup besides Estee mascara since before I was preggo.

Tuesday I went out to lunch with my mom, and to Farmer's Market. Then I went to Jeff's office with T.J. and fell asleep on his insanely comfy leather loveseat with the Boy.

Wednesday... I really just cleaned all morning and then Jeff's Grandma came over for about an hour.

I love her, but she drives me nuts with her comments... "You should really..." or "You shouldn't..." (fill in the blank.) Ugh. I parent the way that works best for us. I really just smile and mention pointed facts like "No, he is really STILL supposed to be nursing. Solids are just being introduced, they are not a main part of his diet." and "I DO let him play by himself on his playmat. I DON'T hold him 24 hours a day." It's just silly.

Yesterday I can't really remember much that matters.

Today we had Parent's Place, and I took his carseat to the carseat checker lady. She fixed the wobbly porblem I was having, and moved it to the center of the backseat. (I could NOT get it to work that way! She needed two pool noodles to stabilize it.)

So, yeah, that's about it. I lost another pound so far this week, bringing my 3 week grand total to 10 lbs down. Woohoo!

Travers....
Well, I'm trying slowly to break Travis from his "mommy only" phase. Since the carseat is now in the middle of the backseat, no more of me sitting back there. We got a nifty baby-viewer mirror so we can see what he's doing. Also, trying to keep him from sleeping in my arms all the time. It's hard, but needed for sanity's sake.

Otherwise I can't get squat done!

Anyway... that's about it.

Going to celebrate belated-Easter at Jeff's Grandma's house. I'm bringing my world famous Carrot Cake. I made it two years ago, and everyone still talks about it like they just had some yesterday. His Grandma has asked several times (including calling yesterday) to make sure I'm bringing "The Cake". Buncha junkies... :)

Human Pacifier
My darling sweet baby boy is going through this PHASE right now... you see... he only wants ME. From morning until night. Yes, only ME. And when he has ME, he only wants... For the love of GOD...I have no clue what he wants sometimes!

He cries when I put him down to do ANYTHING! Including going to the bathroom. He cried yesterday in San Francisco whenever we'd put him in the stroller, or Heaven forbid Grandma (Jeff's mom) tried to hold him. He REALLY screamed then. MMHMM. And SO totally freaked those poor gay fellows out at the dessert place in the Castro last night. Yes, indeed. ( No you heard me correctly, oh, yeah... those Queer Eyes know how to make a mean chocolate caramel cream custard served in a white and dark chocolate tulip- shaped bowl. Heaven!) So, yeah. I carried and nursed him in the sling for 7 hours yesterday. In Sephora, and Amoeba records, and the freaking huge Old Navy where we all love to shop. He slept a bit. But mostly not. Yes.... and right now, he's pitifully whimpering in the swing. (Jeff and James escaped to a Queens of the Stone Age concert in Santa Cruz tonight.)

So that's been my last week in a nutshell. Yes, that about sums it up nicely.

Going to go now, my little one needs me. Please tell me this too shall pass.

P.S.

I've lost 4 more pounds this week bringing two-week grand total to 9 lbs down. Will update weight loss ticker later.

Cereal Face!
Today is a great weather day! Hopefully I'll be able to get out of the house with Baby Boy. He's been super-fussy the last few days with teething. :(

Yesterday afternoon we went out to Costco and Target, and Borders. We were at Costco having a snack in the food court. I had Travis in the sling, facing toward me. I was eating a frozen yogurt sundae with raspberries.

Every time I would go get a bite of the sundae, and bring the spoon toward my lips, Travis would open his mouth really wide! He didn't want to nurse, he wanted what I was eating!

Of course, I wasn't going to give him a bite... we decided to try the rice cereal. I know, I really wanted to wait until 6 months. But, he's 5 months, and has more than doubled his birth weight - he weighs almost 18 lbs. He sits up well, and holds his head up beautifully. He ALWAYS grabs at my food when I'm eating, but this was the first time he actually opened his mouth for some.

Last night we tried about 1/2 TBS. of rice cereal mixed with breastmilk. He LOVED it! He smiled, and laughed and gobbled it up. I was amazed. So far, no adverse reaction. (Although I think he's allergic to raspberries... he had a rash on his butt this morning. He has the same thing whenever I eat strawberries or citrus.) :(

So, yeah. That's about it. Also, I lost 5 pounds. Today was my weigh-in day after doing the WW thing at home for the last week. So far, so good!

Domestically Inclined?
Good morning. I have been up for over an hour already. Laundry calls my name! Today we're most likely going to stay home and clean. And unpack the last of our CDs.

Yesterday we went out and walked all day. PG was having their annual "Good Old Days" celebration downtown. We took Travis out and broke in his new stroller. I am loving it!

The state of my apartment, however? So NOT loving it! We need to fold laundry, do more laundry (and go procure more quarters for this task), need to vaccuum, dust, do kitchen (including inside of fridge... yuck!)and bathroom floors, clean bathroom, clean our room, and organize Travis' closet. Also need to do a storage run and pack up old carseat, bases, stroller, and clothes to go away for next baby. Need to assemble cubes for CDs, and declutter livingroom. Ick! If even a third of it gets done today I will be happy!

Spring cleaning? No, but with a baby in the house who hates to be put down, it's damned near impossible to get thisgs done during the week. So that leaves weekends, and usually we aren't in the mood to waste our weekends together doing housework. When we do, it's great! CLean house, and worth the effort. I wish I posessed the power like Jeannie in "I Dream of Jeannie" or Samantha in "bewitched" POOF! In a blink of the eye, or twitch of the nose, my house would be spotless all the time! :)

Tiny miracles.
Stupid rain! I hate it....

My friend Jen had her twins on Wednesday. She had an emergency C-section. She had the same OB that we had. The twins are 4 weeks premature, but both are over 5 lbs, weighing in at at 5lbs, 9oz, and 5lbs, 3 oz which is good news. The bad news is that the bigger girl (Vanessa) is up at the NICU at U.C. San Francisco right now with lung issues. Since she was premature, the surfactant hadn't completely developed in her lungs. I guess the avioli in her lungs didn't open up right with her first breaths, and now one of her lungs has a tear in it. Poor girl! The other twin (Desiree) is doing well, still getting IV fluids, etc. She can't eat yet, I guess.

It makes me that much happier to have had a healthy full-term single pregnancy.

She can't even go see her baby Vanessa right now... because of her C-section. Not even when she gets out of the hospital on Monday, SF is almost a 2 hour drive away from here, and Desiree won't be out of the hospital for awhile. Her husband is driving up there to see Vanessa right now. I wish they could all be together as a new family, instead of going through this right now. It'so sad. To make it worse, Jen has a 6 year old from a previous marriage, and no family here. Only her ex-husband and his mom. Her mother passed away about 10 years back, her dad is God knows where, and her new husband moved here from Lebanon a few years ago without his family.

I'm not the praying type, but if you are, maybe you could spare a few for them?

Market, and WW
Farmer's Market was nice. I bought Parsley, baby pattypan squash, kohlrabi, tomatoes, and 2 boxes of strawberries. Travis has been so cranky today... Poor boy can't sleep for long! :(

Mom and I went to the Wharf for lunch, her treat. I had grilled salmon with veggies and rice and a big salad. It was only $10.00, but I still feel bad cause she paid last time, and we switch off treating - she doesn't have much $ being on disabilty, but I will make sure I pay next time. Travis started crying in the restaurant. She held him and stood up swaying with him while I ate. She didn't seem to mind, but I did. She had her whole fish & chips lunch boxed up for later, and she only ate her clam chowder. She said that's all she really wanted to go there for, though. I bought her a box of strawberries, and some kohlrabi @ the market. :)

I carried Travis in the sling all afternoon. He slept most of the time. I just got a practically new Over the Shoulder Baby Holder on eBay for about 1/2 the regular price. It's padded and it's so comfy! And a lot less work to put on than my Moby Wrap! Also, I can nurse him discreetly in the sling, unlike the wrap. I still like the wrap, but I REALLY like the sling!

I started doing We*ght W@tchers again this week. I'm doing the Nursing Mom's program on my own. They cancelled the Mom & Me meeting in my area, so I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing the baby, plus I never liked going to the meetings anyway. Doesn't make sense to pay just to get weighed in. I am motivated, so I think I will do well on my own. I still have all of my WW journals, POINTS books, and stuff from before I got pregnant. Also, I signed up online for free access to their bulletin boards for "real life" support if I need it. Wish me luck!

Gotta go, baby boy just hurled on me!

Big boy!
Baby boy had his shots today! :( It doesn't get any easier to watch, I tell you... I nearly cried. I hate to see him in such pain, but at least it's for a good reason. His 5 month stats are:

Weight - 17 lbs, 12 3/4 oz
Length- 28 inches long
Head Circ. - 45cm

He's getting SO big!

At least his next appt. he won't have to get shots!

Travis' penis
Travis has delighted himself by suddenly finding his penis! He gets little baby boners on the changing table all the time. (It's really cute, I tell you!) Especially when Jeff's changing him and he gets one. I hear "Look at your big 'ol penis, Travis!" or "That's my big dick boy! Just like Daddy!"
(Men...) :)

But, that's not what I take issue with. My problem is that all of a sudden Travis wants to TOUCH it. That in itself I have no problem with, of course! But, he never does it never during a pee diaper, only during a poopy one.
So, why is it that my little boy only notices he has a penis during the most foul diaper changes? Anyone? Seriously, I am really curious about this!
