I am such a slacker, I know. But at least now I have a reason to be, being a mommy!
Jeff's mom and new husband Bob (husband #4 for her!) well, they got married 3 years ago... so not new... and sister are in town this weekend. We went out to a fabulous dinner last night. (They paid!!) :) And we're going out to lunch today with them, plus Jeff's Grandma. This will be the first time Grandma has met her son-in-law. His mom and grandma have had far longer-reaching issues than we've had. We'll see how she likes Bob.

Weekend part 1
This weekend went just wonderfully.
I got up early Saturday morning and threw in three loads of laundry before anyone else could get their laundry in. Yay! We only have 3 washers and 3 dryers, so it's a race during the week and evenings. I can't possibly carry Travis plus that much laundry up and down the 14 steep stairs we have during the weekdays when I'm home.
Then we had some waffles, and my dad showed up, as usual, unannounced. He shows up most every Saturday morning. I don't mind, but I wish he'd call sometimes. Jeff & I finished picking up the aparment and I gave travis a bath in the kitchen sink. He didn't cry at all!
Then I took a long shower and blow dried my hair and such while Jeff & daddy shot the breeze.
Jeff's Grandma showed up as planned, and we drove to the restaurant together. We met Jeff's mom & Bob and Sarah for lunch at the Fishwife in Pacific Grove. We had Seafood Alfredo with homemade linguine with crab, scallops, and shrimp. MMM!
Travis was a dream! He slept the whole time.
Grandma liked Bob a lot! That was great! She invited us all over for games and stuff Saturday evening.
After lunch we did the beach cruise, and then took family pictures at the waterfront.
We all came back here and looked at photo albums. Jeff's mom, Bob, and Sarah had not seen our place, so we gave them the tour.
Then Gramma went home, and we all sat around and talked, and then went to this British Pub my old friend Annie works at. I shocked her at work when I walked up to her outside on gher break with Travis facing forward in his Moby Wrap. We had Newcastle on draft and appetizers, and hung out.
More later... T.J. is hungry shrieking now!

Human teething ring
My little guy is such a Punky Brewster! He's started to "chomp" down on my nipple while nursing! It hurts SO bad! Also, he'll be eating merrily, and then turn his head while STILL ATTACHED! Ouch!! Also, he's flat-out refusing my right breast during the day, and will only nurse on it while I'm laying down at night in bed. So, I called a LLL Leader and talked to her for awhile today. She thinks he might be teething. And that developmentally, he's at the point where everything is very intereting to look at so he wants to look around while he eats. Also, she said that my let-down reflex might not be quick enough for his liking. (Especially since he's getting all his milk from the one breast!) So, she told me to massage my breast while he's eating to stimulate the let-down. Also to try laying down with him during the day so he'll nurse on the right side as well. And to break his suction if I feel him starting to move his head. And to start teaching "nursing manners."
Yes, you heard that correctly. Teach Nursing Manners. To a three-month old. To tell him "No, that hurts mama!" And "No biting, Travis!" Whenever he does those things. So far, all that's accomplished is having him smile up at me with his big gummy grin every time I try to use those techniques with him. Yup, it's really working well. :)
Anyway, I'm going to go to a LLL meeting next week and see what there is to see...
I've spent way too much time on eBay today... useless Treasure Hunt. Grr.

I knew it was too good to be true!
Warining: TMI Alert! (Too much information)
Sigh. Today I resumed having my period. I know, not fair, huh? Since Travis is exclusively breastfed, I figured I'd be off the hook for at least a few more months. But, nope. Maybe because he sleeps so well at night... but I guess it's a small price to pay.
It kinda ruins Valentine's day, ya know? Especially since I was secretly hoping that it could be our "get re-connected" night. Alas, it will have to wait. What's that you ask? We haven't "resumed the deed?" No, I'm a tad bit embarrassed to say. It's been a LONG time! Since about oh, I don't know... early September or so. "WHAT???!" You ask horrified....
Really, it's not that bad. I was extraordinarily uncomfortable in the last months of pregnancy. I had severe pubic symphysis pain. I ached all over, my back and hips hurt, my feet swelled like crazy, I couldn't see my legs or nether regions in order to maintain my usually fanatical hair-grooming routine. Also, sex hurt. A lot. Like my cervix was at the entrance of my...umm... yeah. So, there you go. My secret's out. This last bit of time isn't from lack of wanting. Only lately... (it took awhile to get back to that point, though.) But between the obligatory advised 6 weeks post-partum abstaining, the episiotomy site that still hurts occasionally, the on-demand breastfeeding, my leaky boobs, the co-sleeping, etc. You get the picture. It's not exactly romance-central around here.
My husband's a saint. He hasn't so much as asked for a hummer. I'm sure he's getting "things out of his system" somehow.... (He's totally committed to me!) But I don't ask, and he doesn't tell. I make sure to let him take his nice long showers in peace... just in case he's takin' care of biz-ness. ;)

3 month check-up... SO big!
Poor Travis.... he had to have 3 shots today! :(
But, I took the advice of American Baby Magazine, and gave him Tylenol right after they weighed him. It takes about 30 minutes to kick in.... so of course he did cry during the shots, but by the time we had checked out, and talked to the billing department about an error... (we were billed for over $500 when he was clearly covered under insurance!) Travis was asleep in my arms. He's still asleep in his carseat right now as I type this. :) Sweet boy. I love him SO much!
His 3 month stats are:
Weight: 15 lbs, 9 oz
Height: 26"
Head Circum, 42 cm.
That's my big boy! I love our Ped. I had him when I was a kid, and he's really, really old. Even though he's semi-retired (only has patients 3 days a week) we were able to get into see him.
He's very old-school. He's a HUGE supporter of breastfeeding. I like that a lot!! :) In fact, when he came into the room this morning, I was feeding Travis. He went to wash his hands, and I said kinda apologetically "Oh, I'm just giving Travis some more breakfast."
He corrected me, with a twinkle in his eye: "No, you're just doing the most important thing in the world!" I love Dr. Black!
Anyway... the appointment went great! Dr. Black said not to succumb to the pressures of feeding him anything but my milk for at least the next 3 months. My milk gives him everything he needs right now. He said people (namely Grandparents, and Great Grandparents) want to start shoving rice cereal and baby food into them entirely too early. I completely agree!
Anyway... I'm going to use the rest of my time right now to catch up on a bit of housework... bye!

More weekend....
Yesterday rocked as well! We went to San Jose with Jeff's mom and sister. We met them there, actually. We're both only an hour away from there... instead of driving the extra hour. Yuck.
We went to the Cheescake Factory for lunch. MMM! We'd never been there before, so it was a real treat... it took FOREVER to decide from their HUGE menu! We had SO much food! Thai lettuce wraps, and hot artichoke cheese dip, and our entree I had Chicken Mushroom Pesto Pasta. Yummy! Of course, it wouldn't have been right if we hadn't split a single slice of Coffee Heath bar cheesecake. Heaven! Then we walked around the mall for like 4 hours, so SOME of it most likely burned offf... right? Not to mention that (much) later I had a Vanilla Bean Creme Frappucino (no whipped cream, due to the obscene amount already consumed with above mentioned cheesecake!)
We went to Old Navy, and to look at dresses for his sister's Prom. We walked everywhere. We bought a few things for Travis at Old Navy, Baby Gap, and such. We said our goodbyes, and then we headed to Babies R Us to look at carseats and strollers... Travis is almost too long for his infant seat. :(
We didn't have much time due to the fact that they closed at 7:00 and we didn't leave Jeff's mom and sister til 6:30... it's ok... we think we want to but the Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 Elite convertable seat. Also, we looked at this awesome Peg Perego stroller... it has a reversable handle, and it's SO nice...but I'm NOT paying 300 some odd dollars for a stroller! I think I'm going to buy the one on One Step Ahead. We'll see.
Travis has a Dr. appt. tomorrow. :( Check-up only... hopefully no shots. Poor guy! Cannot believe he's 3 months old today! I will post pics later. He's awesome!

Busy little bees....
This weekend was great! We had breakfast here with my dad on today, and hung out for a few hours here. Then we went out to lunch at te new California Pizza Kitchen. Jeff and I had 2 "Be our guest" vouchers cause when we tried to go last week, they neglected to tell us about the 1 hour turn-around time on the pizzas UNTIL we'd already waited 30 minutes for a seat, and had our drinks half-finished, AND already decided on what we'd order. So the manager was summoned, and he made it right by paying for our cocktails, and also giving us the vouchers.
So, we'd decided to try it again. It I had Roasted Potato & Garlic Chicken: Garlic chicken, herb-roasted Yukon Gold potatoes, Mozzarella cheese, rosemary, oregano and Italian parsley with a white wine and lemon-garlic butter sauce. Yummy! Jeff had the Jerk Chicken pizza. It was SO good! Not like the Jerk Chicken we'd had in Negril, Jamaica, but very good none-the-less.
After eating, Jeff and I went to Costco to drop off digital images for 1 hour photo. We went to Starbucks. Caramel Macchiato! And back home. We hung out with The Boy, and took some video and did our photo album. We finished DL the new Tori Amos album "The Beekeeper". I've already listened to it more than 10 times, and burned a copy for my car. I really like it! Especially "Sleeps with Butterflies" "Parasol" and "Jamaica Inn" I (of course!) will buy it when it comes out on the 22nd like everyone else. (And as I have done with EACH of her albums since Under the Pink.) But since I've been a fan for more than 10 years, and spent thousands of dollars on import stuff, innumerable concerts, tee-shirts, etc. I don't think I should have to wait to hear it for the first time for another few weeks. Neh! We gave The Boy a bath in the kitchen sink, took more videpo, and watched some TiVoed stuff. CSI NY.
Then we just watched some Firefly on DVD, and we're going to bed.
