Bumpy

Crazy drive today!

It was dubbed a "road trip", and they were not kidding! Hours of very slow driving on the world's bumpiest dirt road at nearly 10,000 ft elevation. Spectacular views, yes. Cranky baby, yes. Poor mother with degenerative disk disease feeling each and every bump? Yes! Bathrooms? Notsomuch.

Reunion Day One

Hello!! I'm writing this entry from Riverton, WY. I'm actually using the new wireless card and internet and typing this on our bed at the hotel. Travis is sleeping, and Jeff went out to get us some food. Enya is plaing via the Airplay from my iPod on the clock radio in our room. How cool is this techy stuff?

Our flight yesterday was supposed to have been 2 1/2 hours total in the air. BUT, we ended up hitting a thunderstorm, and massive turbulance before our decent into Salt Lake City, and having to refuel in IDAHO... it took about 5 hours instead. Weak, huh?

Well, today was pretty cool... we just kinda hung out at the lake and go re-acquainted with the family. There was a cool windstorm, and it was a bit rainy. Tropical, and weird weather.... tomorrow we're going to Atlantic City. No, not that Atlantic City... the one in WY. Should be interesting.

:)

I'll update later tomorrow.

Father's Day

The boys are still snoozing... :)

I'm baking Jeff a coffee cake in my silicon heart-shaped pan right now. It will be sweet when he wakes up to the cinnamon yumminess!

I hope he likes the photo book I made him on Kodak.com for Father's Day. It didn't turn out like I'd expected, but still, hope he likes it. I guess they print in halftone (like magazines) and not digital picture quality. Bummer, cause I spent days hand-editing and cropping each picture... grr.

Anyway... for the rest of today we'll be cleaning the house and doing laundry, and getting ready for our trip. Fun stuff!

Gotta go, hear my little guy!

Worst plumbing EVER!

Sparing you most of the gory details involving my toilet overflowing nasty water all over my bathroom floor... suffice it to say I hate the plumbing in this building! They had turned off the hot water due to a hot water pipe burst (and yes, I was in the shower at the time!) and then apparently (or I wa told) they had to shut the water to the building off as well... and that the toilet would fix itself after the water/pressure resumed. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!!! So, yeah... I ruined about 5 towels trying to keep the filth from encroaching any further than it absolutely had to. (Like to the apartment downstairs.) Discusting, indeed. The nice maintenence guy just left. He fixed it all, and wisked away the icky towels, and cleaned the floor with Orange cleaner. It smells a lot better than it did before, I assure you.

He was too nice about it, actually. He even asked my permission to use the BBW Moonlit Path anti-bacterial soap to wash his hands afterward. I would have gladly given him the whole bottle, honestly.

T.J. Update

The weather has been super-weird today... at least there are no more tsunami warnings to freak us out... for the moment.

Travis is doing well. I've been doing the solids for breakfast thing for the last week. He's digging it. I give him the Gerber Organic Oatmeal with Peaches and Bananas. This morning I gave him mango (baby food) for the first time. He really liked it. I gave him pureed chicken last night (baby food) ugh! He loved it but it is foul smelling to me, so I don't think I will buy it again. I'm looking into a food mill or baby food processor. I'm bidding on one on eBay right now. I also want to get the Super Baby Food book on eBay as well.

I really want the food grinder, AND the puree attachment for my Kitchenaid... but it's like $150 for both, so I doubt I'll get it. I mean, I've used the pasta attachment maybe twice, so I know hubby will be all like... "hell no, woman!" :)

Hee.

Travis is still doing the I-can't-get-off-my-stomach-once-I've-rolled-over-thing
except occasionally, and by extreme accident. It's starting to worry me. It's SO frustrating for him... poor guy. He gets all the way up on his arms, and kicks and kicks his little legs, not flipping back over... like a poor stuck reverse-turtle.

He'll cry "Mama" and whine the most pathetic little whine until I flip him back over... and minutes later, he's stranded himself again. :(

At this rate the kid will be crawling before he can roll tummy to back.

Well... that's about all that's been going on here... except that I bought a Floppy Seat for Travis and he's almost sitting up without being quite so floppy in the cart. Practice makes perfect... well... in less than a week we'll be in Wyoming for my family reunion. Should be interesting. Will post before then, but I'm going to be super-busy preparing for the trip. Can't wait until my AirPlay gets here... I wanna be able to use my iPod in the car. Travis doesn't like me using it... he always pulls on my headphones. I use it when he's napping, mostly. Anyway... think I'll take the boy out to Starbuck's and Borders now. I really should get out of the house. We'll se if that happens, though... I need to shower as well. Don't think both will happen at this hour of the day

Funny way to waste some time...

This is too funny! :)
I never could make it past the 2nd trimester... too many McDonald's boxes!

I'm continuing to rip my cds to my iPod... I have over 50 so far, and it's not even 3 gigs. Wow! So much power!

Went to the chiropractor this morning, but I think I already un-did any good from slinging Travis all over the mall. I didn't buy anything, but it was nice to go out and look at stuff.

I need to go to Whole Paycheck tomorrow and look for organic bug repellant for our trip to Wyoming in 2 weeks. I also need to BADLY wash my car and have it vacuumed and amor-alled, before Friday. We're driving with Jeff's Gramma to his sisters graduation in my car. It's seriously foul. Like it hasn't been washed since I was pregnant. Ick.

Tomorrow I'm going out to dinner with my friends. I'm leaving the baby with Daddy - really! For the first time since T.J. was born, I'm going somewhere without him! Well, I left him at about 4 weeks to briefly go to the craft store, and to Whole Foods the day before Thanksgiving (but he was asleep both times, so I'm not counting those.)

Wish me luck.... one of my friends had twins 2 months ago, so if she can leave her TWO babies with their daddy, I can certainly leave my one with his for a few hours. Dear God, what will I do with myself?

I hope I can manage to talk about more than baby spit-up, and diapers, and stuff....

7 month old boy!

Today was Travis' 7 month check-up. We waited like... FOREVER to see the doc. 45 minutes to be precise. How aggrivating. Well, guess Jeff won't be home for lunch since he didn't get into the office until 11:30 because of the delay at the ped. office. Bleh.

Travis had to get a shot, but it was the Hep-B, so we shouldn't have to deal with the fever like with the others... I didn't even give him Tylenol. He cried for a few seconds, but then I nursed him, and all was well again.

His 7 month stats:

Weight: 19lbs, 4 oz
Height: 29 1/4 inches
Head Circ. : 46 1/2 cm

That's my big sweet boy! :)

He seems right on track for most things... he's starting to be able to sit up for more time before plopping over. Still not much of a tummy to back roller, but he does back to tummy all the time now. He's started with the push-ups, where he gets his whole chest off the floor. He kicks and kicks his legs, but is frustrated that it doesn't yet propel him forward.

It'll only be a matter of time before I'm chasing him all over the Earth... :)

Gotta go now, he's fussing and wants his milkies.

Deep dark secret....

This week has gone by SO freaking fast! I can't believe it's nearly over.... We went to my MIL's last weekend. A fun time was had by all! We barbecued and ate lots of good food. We took Travers shopping, and swimming, and our hotel had free high-speed internet. My sister-in-law graduates from H.S. next week. It's SO hard to believe that she is the same little girl who I used to give baths to, and the same little girl who nearly needed to be rushed to the ER the night Jeff proposed to me 10 years ago. (Lobster allergy... Benadryl took care of it, thankfully.) Also, I remember when we were at Paramount's Great America, and she had been able to ride Top Gun with us early in the day, and when we stood in line later on (for like 45 minutes, in the sun...) the guy at the front absolutely refused to let her on the ride, saying she wasn't quite/ tall enough. Tears ensued. Now she's all big, and going away to college... amazing.

I'm doing something I should have done a long time ago... I'm embarassed to admit it, but... I fell about 10 credits short of graduating high school with my class. (Class of 1995) Mostly, it was due to the fact that I had a severe attendance problem the last 3+ months of my Senior year. I moved out of my mom's dysfunctional house and in with my dad. I moved 30 miles away from my school, and my then fiance, now husband lived with my dad too. I had to take the public transportation to school... an hour each way. It sucked big ass. Senioritis set in a bad way... and I eventually stopped going altogether.

Anyway, my dad was so laid-back he didn't make me go to school if I didn't want to, so I didn't... I ended up failing my AP British Lit and my Econ class. So, I'm going to finish my classes and FINALLY get my diploma.

I was a SUCH goody-goody before then... to extreme measures. Even though I knew we couldn't afford college... I pushed myself as if the money were going to magically materialize. I took all AP classes, the SAT, I did 4+ hours of homework every night. I did extra credit, and summer projects. I went in at 6:30 am to make up Chemistry labs. (My senior year... I took Chem, even though I didn't need it to graduate... because it looked good to colleges to have 4 years of science.) My GPA was 3.75 at all times. It was sad, really. I had no life whatsoever. I was somewhere hoping that college was still possible... it became obvious that it wasn't going to pan out. We couldn't afford it, not at all. Not even a payment plan with the lowest monthly payements. AND grants, and scholorships. Nada. I had been fooling myself.

I had planned on going to France as an exchange student for a year after H.S. We had a host family all lined up, and everything. I took 4+ years of French, and spoke it very well... (at the time) But I found the love of my life... and there was NO WAY I could leave him for a year. No way at all. Being engaged at 17 is a funny thing. I went from having NO freedom whatsoever at my mom's to having complete adult freedom at my dad's overnight. I was young and irresponsible... and now I'm going to do something about it.

It just never really mattered to me before... I have had great jobs, and I consider myself of above average intellect. Honestly, no one has ever asked me for my diploma. I just feel now that I have Travis... it's hypocritical if I try to tell him that education is a priority, if I know I never followed through with my own.

So, now you know my deep, dark secret...
